Description

April 12, 1955 w. L. CROWNER SURGICAL APPLIANCE Filed June 26, 1952 ifarreiz Z.(m wa INVENTOR ATTORNEYS WITNESS United States Patent 0 My invention relates to surgical appliances and has as one of the principal objects thereof the provision of a surgical appliance adapted to fit over a penis and which is so constructed and arranged as to maintain the foreskin in retracted position to expose the sensitive surfaces of the head thus making it possible for the user to readily complete the act of coition, which would not be possible if the foreskin covered the head and penis and which condition is well understood in medical science.
It has been found that many males have an excess of foreskin, which, in some cases, extends over the head of the penis thereby interfering with the act of coition, and with this thought in mind this invention contemplates a pair of spaced rings, such as rubber bands, connected with spaced strips, which when placed over the penis and positioned at the base thereof draws the surplus foreskin to the base, retaining the foreskin on the body of the penis in tension.
Another object of my invention is to provide an appliance of the above described character which is simple in construction, durable in use, etficient in operation, easy of attachment and economical in manufacture.
Other objects and advantages will be apparent from the following description, appended claim and annexed drawings.
Referring to the drawings wherein like reference characters designate like parts throughout the several views:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of my invention.
Figure 2 is a longitudinal sectional view thereof.
Figure 3 is a sectional view taken on line 3-3 of Figure 2.
Figure 4 is a longitudinal sectional view of a modified form.
Figure 5 is a sectional view taken on line 5-5 of Figure 4.
The preferred embodiment of my invention, as illustrated in Figures 1 to 3 inclusive of the drawings, com- 50 prises a pair of spaced elastic rings 5 and 6, for instance, rubber bands. For the purpose of description, the ring ice 5 constitutes the inner ring and the ring 6 the outer ring. Said rings are connected together in spaced relation by a ternary of elastic bars 7, the latter being integrally connected to said bands on the outer faces thereof and defining between said hands a pocket. The inner faces ofh the bands taper in an outward direction towards each ot er.
In use, the bands are stretched with the thumb and first two fingers and the appliance is then slipped over the head of the penis and moved to the base thereof. The inner ring 5 is then released and the foreskin moved rearwardly under the outer ring 6 whereupon the outer ring 6 is released thereby securely holding the foreskin in retracted position. When the parts are thus arranged the appliance precludes the penis from moving back and forth within the foreskin and exposes all the sensitive surfaces of the penis for engagement with female parts.
In the modified form illustrated in Figures 4 and 5, the inner and outer rings 10 and 11 respectively are secured together in spaced relation by being connected to the inner end of a tube 12, preferably constructed of rubber and which extends over the penis and serves to prevent the transmission of disease between male and female parts.
From the foregoing it will be apparent that I have provided a simple and effective appliance for maintaining the foreskin in retracted position to expose the sensitive surfaces of the penis thus making it possible for the user to readily complete the act of coition. It is to be understood that various changes and modifications may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention or scope of the appended claim.
Having thus described my invention, I claim:
As a new article of manufacture, a surgical appliance comprising a pair of spaced parallel elastic rings, said rings having the same outside diameter, a plurality of spaced parallel elastic straps extending between said rings and secured to the outer surfaces thereof, the inner surface of each of said rings sloping in the direction of the inner edge whereby the inner edges of said rings are of less thickness than the outer edges thereof, the outer ends of said straps being rounded.
