To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, AARON M. AUSTIN, of Rockland, in the county of Knox and State of Maine, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Implements for Toilet Use; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same.

My invention relates to an improved combination implement for toilet and other use; and it consists in a combination in one implement ot' a nail-cutter of duck-billshape,a corkscrew, which is also a nail-cleaner, a button-hook, a tile, and a fastening device for holding the parts together in a closed position.

The invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, which shows it in Figure l as opened, and Fig. 2 in a closed position.

In the drawings, a to represent two jaws, hinged together with a scissors-joint, and having at their ends cutters of a flattened or duck-bill shape, which are adapted to be closed or forced together against the pressure of the spring 1 on the rivet on which they are pivoted. The other ends ofthe jaws l'orm handles for operating the jaws, and one of these handies, or both, it desired, may be serrated to form tiles of different degrees of fineness. On the inside of one of the handles is pivoted a button-hook, 0, adapted to be swung outwardly for use. Opposite the button-hook, and to the inner side of the other handle, is pivoted a screw, D, which has atlattenedjoint, 4, used as a nail-cleaner, the entire screw being intended for use as a corkscrew, and also as a door-fastener. The ends of the handle are notched or slotted, as shown, and in one of these notches is pivoted a latch, E, having an enlarged end, which enters the notch in the opposite handle, and, being of dovetail shape, is held therein against lateral movement and hold the jaws closed. In this p.isition the side ofthe latch either bears upon the head of the button-hook or falls upon the notchin said hook,holdsit in positiomand prevents it fromswinging upon its pivot.

For the various purposes for which the different implements are intended these devices will be found exceedingly compact and effective. It is especially adapted for the use of tourists and travelers, who find it a matter of inconvenience to carry these necessary implements separately.

What I claim is-- 1. The nail-cutter composed of the pivoted jaws or duck-bills having a spring, 1, andthe latch E for holding said jaws closed, substantially as described.

, 2. The implements for toilet use described, consisting of the hinged jaws a a, the pivoted screw 1), the pivoted button-hook U, and the fastening, all substantially as and for the pur pose set forth.
