Description
Patented Aug. 25 1 953 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE WELD ROD Arthur T. Cape, Los A Coast Metals, Inc., ration of Delaware ngeles, Oalif., assignor to Little Ferry, N. J
No Drawing. Application July 31, 1951, Serial No. 239,630
3 Claims. (01.75-125) This invention relates, as indicated, to weld rods, but has reference more particularly to a weld rod which is especially useful for hard facthe combined effects of corrosion and erosion from molten copper, copper oxide and copper matte.
The metal welds without a factor which is of extreme porosity or cracking, molten copper will seep importance, because through cracks or pores and attack the iron base.
The alloy, as thus described, may also be used in the form of castings, in cases where the castings are used outside of the copper converter and are not in contact with white metal, which is C1125.
\ about 4 copper in amounts of from about .5% to about 3%, and carbon from .5% to 1.75%, the balance consistin essentially of iron.
3. As a facing for apparatus parts subjected to the corrosive and erosive effects of molten 24% to about 40%, copper in amounts of from about .5% to 3%, and carbon from .5% to 1.75%, the balance of the alloy consisting essentially of iron.
