. This invention relates to furniture and it is one object of the invention to provide furniture .wherein a buffet, china closet, and table are combined in such manner that the china closet is supported over the buffet and the table formed separate therefrom and bodily removable from a position in straddling relation to the buffet to a position apart from the buffet and the china closet for use.

Another object of the invention is to provide combination furniture wherein the buffet and the table are so formed that when the table is applied to the buffet its top fits snugly between the buffet and the china closet and its legs fit into recesses at corners of the buffet and cause the table to so merge into the buffet and the china closet that an attractive piece of furniture will result.

Another object of the invention is to so form the table and the buffet that when the table is removed for use it will be firmly supported by legs at its corners which rest solidly upon a floor.

This improved combination consists briefly of a bufiet l, a china closet 2, and atable 3. These articles of furniture may be formed of wood. metal, or other suitable material and are of such dimensions that when they are assembled, the china closet may be supported over the buffet and the table, having close fitting straddling engage.- ment with the bufiet and its top fits snugly lie-.- tween the top of the bufiet and the bottom of the china closet. r 3

The buffet has a top 4, a heel; or rearwall and end walls 6, the front er the buffet being open so that a suitable number of drawers :lmay be slid and out of the buffet. End panels 8, of less width than the end walls 6, are disposed vertically and secured to straps 9 which hold the a table of such construction that its top consists of sections slidable from a retracted or closed position to an extended position, thus allowing the legs of the table to be moved out of corner recesses of the buffet when the table is to be used and returned to the recesses when the table is applied in nested relation to the buffet and thus the table prevented from slipping out of its close fitting relation to the buffet and the. china closet.

Another object of the invention is to provide combination furniture including a table which may have extra leaves set into its top and also provide the table with a top having side portions or strips which are movable from a lowered position along side of the top to a raised position for increasing the width of the table top.

Another object of the invention is to provide a combination bufiet, china closet, and table which is simple in construction and very strong.

During use of the table it will be firmly supported upon its legs, and as it is entirely removable from the buffet, it may'bejset inplace for use at any distance from the combined buffet and china closet. The buffet will also remain firmly supported, as it doesnot depend upon the legs IQ for: its support and removal of the table 'will not detract from its appearance.

Having thus described the invention, what is claimed is:

a china closet, means supporting said china closet above said buffet in upwardly spaced relation thereto, and a table straddling said buffet 'and having a top fitting into space between the buffet and the china closet and legs at each corner of the top fitting into recesses formed vertically along each corner of the buffet, the top of said table being formed of sections movable towards and away from each other whereby the table may be elongated to move the legs out of the'recesses and the table withdrawn from the buffetfi Y I I '2. Combinationfurniture comprising a buffet, a china closet, means supporting said china closet over the buffet in upwardly spaced relation thereto, said buffet being formed at each of its corners with vertical recesses extending the full'height of the buffet, and a table of dimensions adapting it to straddle the buffet longitudinally and transversely thereof and completely cover the top. of the buffet, said table having a'longitudinally extensible top formed .of sections fitting between the buffet and the china closet movable towards and away from. each other to retracted and extended positions and legs at each of the corners of the table top fitting into the recesses of the buffet when the sections of the table top are in a retracted condition and'being moved out of the recesses when the sections of the top are in an extended position. 3. Combination furniture comprising a buffet open at its front end and having end walls and a rear wall and a top, each of the corners of the top being formed with notches, spacing strips mountedvertically against outer faces of the end walls and projecting outwardly therefrom along edges of. said notches and together with side edge portions of, the end walls and the notches forming recesses extending the full height of the buffet, panels mounted between said spacing strips and disposed under ends of the top, a china closet over said buffet open at its front and having a rear wall extended downwardlyland secured .against the rear wall of the buffet in position to support the china closet over the buffet in upwardly spaced relation thereto, and a table having a top fitting-snugly between the buffet and the china closet and completely covering the top of the buffet and upper ends of the recesses, and legs extending downwardly from each of the corners of the table top and fitting snugly in said recesses with outer side faces flush with the panels and sides" of the buffet, the table top consisting of sections movable towards and away from each other longitudinally of the top, the said top thereby being longitudinally extensible whereby the table legs may be moved out of the recesses to a position beyond the end panels and the table shifted forwardly to a position entirely free fromthe buffet foruse. v

4. Combination furniture comprising a buffet, a china closet over said buffet, means supporting the china closet over, the .buffet in upwardly spaced relation thereto, said china closet being of dimensions disposing ends and the front of the china closet in inwardly spaced relation to the ends and the front of the buffet, said buffet having each of its corners formed with a vertically extending recess, and a table straddling said buffet and having a longitudinally extensible top formed of sections movable towards and away from each other longitudinally of the buffet from a retracted position to an extended position and completely covering the top of the buffet when in a retracted position and legs mounted vertically under each of the corners of the table top and fitting into the recesses of the buffet when the table top is in its retracted position, said table being entirely free from the buffet and shiftable forwardly from its normal position between the buffet and the china closet to a position for use when its top is in its extended position and its legs thereby moved out of the recesses.

Combination furniture comprising a buffet, 9. china closet, means supporting the china closet over said buffet in upwardly spaced relation thereto, said china closet having its end and its front side spaced inwardly from the ends and the front side of the buffet, and a table having a longitudinally extensible top consisting of sections movable towards and away from each other and fitting between the buffet and the china closet with marginal portions projecting from ends and the front of the china closet and completely covering the top of the buffet, and depending legs at each of the corners of the table top fitting into recesses formed along each of the corners of the buffet and shiftable out of the recesses by extension of the table top to allow forward movement of the table to a position free from the buffet for use.

Combination furniture comprising a buffet having a rectangular top and being formed at each of its corners with a vertically extending recess, and a table having a rectangular top of dimensions adapting it to cover the top of the buffet and legs extending downwardly from each of its corners, said table being normally disposed in straddling relation to the buffet with its top covering the buffet top and its legs fitting into the recesses of the buffet, the table top consisting of end sections movable towards and away from each other and thereby shiftable longitudinally of the table from a normally retracted position to an extended position serving to move the table legs out of the recesses of the buffet and thereby allow the table to be shifted from its position in straddling relation to the buffet to a position entirely free from the buffet for use.

Combination furniture comprising a buffet formed at each corner with a vertical recess open at its top, and a table having a longitudinally extensible top consisting of sections movable towards and away from each other to retracted and extended positions and supporting legs at each corner of the said top, said table being normally disposed in straddling relation to the buffet with its legs fitting into the recesses and being shiftable forwardly to a position entirely free from the buffet when its top is in an extended position and its legs moved out of the recesses.
