Abstract

A shielded backpack for personal protection is presented. The shielded backpack includes a main bag forming a body of the backpack which further includes a front panel and a rear panel. The front and rear panels are attached to each other forming the side walls of the perimeter. The main bag also includes vertical positioning straps on the rear panel that extend from the top of the main bag towards the bottom of the main bag for being arranged on a user's back. The rear panel may also include a pocket configured to receive a rigid ballistic panel.

Description

    SUMMARY THE INVENTION
  • The present invention relates to a shielded backpack for personal protection built in with a level of antiballistic protection. Particularly, it comprises a main bag forming the body of the backpack which includes a front panel and a rear panel attached to each other forming sidewalls in the perimeter. Additionally, it comprises vertical positioning straps on the rear panel extending from the top of the main bag towards the bottom thereof for being arranged on a user's back, wherein the rear panel comprises a pocket configured to receive a hard ballistic panel. The purpose of the invention is to serve as a ballistic shield for protection against weapon attacks.
  • UTILITY MODEL DESCRIPTION
  • 1. Field of the Invention
  • The field of the Invention relates to a shielded backpack for personal protection built in with a level of ballistic protection. More particularly, the field of the invention relates to a safety device usable as ballistic shield for protection against weapon attacks.
  • 2. Prior Art
  • In particular, the present invention relates to a main bag forming the body of the backpack which includes a rigid backpack ballistic panel.
  • Traditionally, antiballistic panels have been used for personal protection. Patent EP 0045134 A1 comprises for this type of devices solid and dense composite materials made from mixtures of silicon and silicon carbide. Such composites materials are characterized in that they consist of an essentially homogeneous matrix of silicon and silicon carbide in a finely distributed form. Silicon carbide is from 40 to 60% by volume and the percentage of the silicon envelope is between 60 and 40%. Therefore, the composite material existing there is not suitable for a light shielded protection making it necessary to develop a product for children light enough to provide the necessary protection.
  • In the United States over the years, given the large number of weapons and licenses for carrying them, there have been attacks and shootings at schools and educational institutions where students and teachers unfortunately lost their lives. To address this issue, the applicant company has decided to develop an innovative product, which is not found in the market today. The prior art relates to several alternatives to the use of panels, but none is related to backpacks for protecting children, particularly being used as shields.
  • OBJECT OF THE INVENTION
  • The main object of this utility model is to avoid the disadvantages of the prior art. More particularly, the object of this utility model is to provide a shielded backpack that can be used as a protective shield.
  • According to these objects, as well as any other information that may make the proposed utility model possible, a feature of this utility model is the arrangement of the safety device.
  • The novel features which are considered as the basis for the invention, are particularly set forth in the appended claims and the advantages thereof will be better understood from the following detailed description of preferred embodiments and with appropriate reference to the accompanying drawings.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE FIGURES
  • In order to further clarify the invention and its advantages compared to the known art, below, possible illustrative embodiments not limiting the application of these principles, are described below with the aid of the accompanying drawings.
  • FIG. 1: shows an isometric view of the safety backpack in a front position.
  • FIG. 2: shows a schematic view of the safety backpack in a rear position.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • This utility model is aimed at a shielded backpack for personal protection built in with a level of antiballistic protection.
  • Particularly, according to FIGS. 1 and 2, the utility model comprises a main bag 1 that forms the body of the backpack which includes a front panel 2 and a rear panel 3 attached to each other forming sidewalls 4 in the perimeter.
  • The main bag 1 further comprises vertical positioning straps 5 a and 5 b, on the rear panel 3.
  • Such vertical positioning straps 5 a and 5 b, extend from the top of the main bag 1 towards the bottom thereof for being arranged on a user's back.
  • The rear panel 3 comprises a pocket 6 configured to receive a rigid ballistic panel 7.
  • The purpose of the invention is to serve as a ballistic shield for protection against weapon attacks.
  • The protective backpack is made of 100% polyester canvas and 3D mesh in the inside and in its body damping systems, having metal tooth zippers and outer pocket.
  • The rear ballistic panel may be used without the user's body contact, i.e. at the moment of the attack the child may use the backpack as a shield.
  • The manufacturing material may comprise 100% polyester backpack canvas plus 3D mesh and Lafsol Bantec fabric for printing.
  • The shielding material can be aramid and viscoelastic damping offering a type II protection level.
  • The present invention is defined as a device for the protection against handgun attacks. It must always allow the users to protect themselves from handgun attacks. Moreover, the rear panel which is inside the briefcase on the rear part can be used without being attached to the body, i.e. it can be used as a shield. Likewise, the configuration of the ballistic panels significantly reduces trauma caused by firearms.
  • By way of example, there have only been illustrated some preferred embodiments of the invention. In this regard it will be appreciated that the construction of the safety backpack, as well as movement arrangements, can be selected from a plurality of alternatives without departing from the spirit of the invention according to the following claims.
