Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • 1. Field of the Invention
  • The present invention relates generally to a method and system for fitness exercise and sports training, more particularly it relates to a web based portal system and method that helps construct customizable workouts and/or training plans suitable for an user to maximize their performance in a chosen sport, while also increasing their strength, speed, agility, balance as well as cardiovascular strength.
  • 2. Description of Related Art
  • Being best on the field of play not only means that we need to be mentally prepared to face the challenges of the sport, but it also means that we should be physically prepared as well. The physical demands of a particular sport are better handled if the user can prepare their body for the unique movements of that sport. Imagine playing baseball without the arm strength to throw out the runner at the plate, playing football without powerful leg strength to run our way through the defensive line, playing basketball without the endurance to run up and down the court. So, if the user wants to improve the performance in any of their chosen sports, there are specific exercises and sports skill drills that can help him reach that goal.
  • In the past, sports specific training and exercise programs have been widely used. However, because of the wide array of user skill and fitness levels, body traits, schedules, and the different sports which require varying levels of experience and skills, the training programs generally do not effectively adapt to the user's need and are thus proven unproductive for the user. Focused sports training workouts will also help the user to reduce risk of injuries by properly preparing their physical body for playing their chosen sport.
  • Typically, a serious sports athlete will utilize the professional services of a certified fitness trainer to develop their physical strength and conditioning; and also utilize a professional sports coach to develop their sports skills. The available training programs are generally taken up by the user, hiring a personal trainer, who customizes a specific training program, and monitor the user's progress as well as motivates the user. However, hiring a personal fitness trainer and sports coach is expensive and time restrictive for most users. Another area of concern is the lack of availability of the trainer at any time of day. It is believed that live training by a skilled, certified trainer is an effective approach, but is often impractical to follow, especially when the user wants to work out at a time of their choice or has a limiting schedule.
  • Conventionally available website based training services mainly provide personalized training on fitness exercises and information on nutritional intake required by the user. For example, U.S. Pub. No. 20120144301 to Bass Eric describes about integrated software platform in the form of a website, to provide training information, nutritional information, motivational tips, coaching advice as well as virtual coach training. The published patent seems to be focused more on providing general fitness exercises and coaching motivation, rather than providing a platform to customize various sports specific skills training, like basketball dribbling or golf swings.
  • In the light of foregoing discussion, there is a need for a convenient, web based portal system and method which would help to construct customizable and personalized workouts/training plans suitable for an user to maximize their performance in a chosen sport, while also increasing their strength, agility, balance as well as cardiovascular strength.
  • SUMMARY OF INVENTION
  • It is an objective of the present invention to provide a web based portal system and method that enables an user with a flexibility to access and choose an exercise, and sport specific drills from one or more exercise libraries, and one or more sports specific skill drills libraries stored on one or more databases, or optionally combine the correlated chosen exercise and the sports specific drill to form a customizable workout, or a set of workouts, which would help the user to excel in any particular sport of their choice, by improving their physical fitness and specific sports skills.
  • It is also an objective of the present invention to provide a system which would provide multiple pre-planned expert training plans and workouts relating to a particular sport which the user chooses based on their requirement.
  • It is another objective of the present invention to present a set of customizable workouts or training plans that include particular sport skill drills constructed for the user to maximize their performance in a chosen sport. The users are enabled to utilize sports specific skill drills like basketball dribbling drills or volleyball serving drills incorporated into the training plans or the workouts.
  • Another objective of the present invention is to provide the web based training services which provide a catalogue of sports specific skill drills that can be selected by the user based on the particular sport of their choice.
  • It is yet another objective of the present invention to provide a software platform configured as the web based portal system that helps the user to continuously track their performance based on logged workouts, logged visual photos, and logged in statistical performance data.
  • Another objective of the present invention is to familiarize the user on how to perform the workouts or the training plans in a step by step manner though audio visual means, visual means and textual means.
  • Another objective of the invention is to facilitate the user to schedule the workouts according to their choice.
  • Another objective of the invention is to enable the user to structure their nutritional and supplements requirements based on available tools to measure nutritional and supplements requirement.
  • There is thus have been outlined, rather broadly, some of the features or objectives of the invention in order that the detailed description thereof may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the invention that will be described hereinafter and that will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
