Abstract
A wristband device holder is worn as such. The device provides a quick release holding capability for handheld devices. It also provides hands free operation of the handheld devices as described. The holder apparatus include a rotatable base for the handheld device. It also has additional feature where the handheld device can be lifted and positioned as such in any angle or position in space. This feature facilitates to observe the screen/window of the handheld device and to be able to operate it (dial, push buttons, and turn knobs) hands free. The handheld device is secured to the wristband holder primarily via clip-on property. Other manner of attaching the handheld devices to the holder can be via magnets, or hooks and loops.
Description
- The present invention relates to a wrist device for holding and operating hand held devices. The wristband acts as a holder and a base for operating the handheld device.
- The variety of phone holder are available for the said purpose of just holding the phone either on the wrist of on the upper arm. The holders have a pouch and the phone is held inside. The available holders either have a wrap around band or a case for housing the handheld device.
- There is no other use for these available holders. Once there is a need for using the phone/hand held device, it must be taken out of the pouch or removed from the holder and used in hands. There is no way to be able to do anything else with the holder and both hands are involved in dialing and holding the handheld device, thus, rendering both hands occupied. Furthermore, handheld device users hold the device in hand due to the fact that if needed to be used frequently, it must be taken off the available holders and must be held in palms of user hands.
- The revolutionary wristband handheld device holder has many functions that is unique to this invention and can only be utilized using the specifications described later to be able to use the device as an operating base as well as holding device.
- It is the object of this invention to provide a device for holding and operating handheld devices on one's wrist. This device provides a template for placing the handheld devices on the wrist where a watch is traditionally worn. It also has a platform that is attached to the base and can be rotated 360 degrees based on a ratchet system with incremental rotation in either direction. The base is part of the wristband just like a wrist watch by variety of mean to secure it (hook and loops, buckle). The base is also designed to hold another platform that slides within it. This platform has a part attached to it via a ratchet hinge that can be lifted incrementally to desired angulations. The handheld device is then secured to this top platform via hook and loops, clip-on or magnet. The purpose of the top platform is twofold. First it allows the device to be pulled out of the first platform (base) and then lifted to the desired incline for the observation of the handheld device screen, and also able to use the device without any attempt needed to turn or twist the forearm or the wrist.
- It is also the object of this invention to specifically, In case of phone as the handheld device, once the phone is in use the speaker can be used and conversation can continues while the hands are completely free.
- It is yet another object of this invention is to provide dialing or pushing any relevant buttons to use the device and operate it as desired without holding the device in hand thus rendering hands free.
- The drawing constitutes a part of this specification and includes an exemplary embodiment to the invention, which may be embodied in various forms. It is to be understood that in some instances various aspects of the invention may be shown exaggerated or enlarged to facilitate an understanding of the invention.
-
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the wristband handheld device holder secured to the wrist and a handheld device (i.e. mobile phone) is in place at a neutral position. -
FIG. 2 shows another perspective view of the same template with handheld device rotated on the base. -
FIG. 3 demonstrate the top platform functions of sliding and lifting ability to hold the hand held device in the desired 3 dimensional position for the operator. -
FIG. 4 is an exploded view of the components of the wristband handheld device holder. - Detailed description of the preferred embodiment is provided herein. It is to be understood, however, that the present invention may be embodied in various forms. Therefore, specific disclosed details are not to be interpreted as limiting but rather as a basis for the claim and as a representative basis for teaching one skilled in the art to employ the present invention in virtually any appropriately detailed system, structure or manner.
-
FIG. 1 is illustrating a hand helddevice 20 secured to the hand held deviceoperating base band 10. This device holder provides asecure platform 16 by means of clip-on 18, or alternatively by hooks and loops or magnet. -
FIG. 2 illustrates an exemplary rotation of the hand helddevice 20, attached to theplatform 16, which is not yet lifted and is completely folded over other portion itscomponent 15, which in turn is not yet pulled out ofplatform 13. -
FIG. 3 illustrates the handheld device attached toplatform 16, which is lifted at an angle fromplatform 15, andplatform 15 is drawn out ofplatform 13 by sliding motion.Platform 13 shows the rotation on its axis in reference tobase platform 12.Platform 12 is secured to thebase 10 which also act as the wristband for securing the whole device to the wrist by mean of adjustable hooks and loops, or regular buckle fashion. -
FIG. 4 . illustrates the exploded components of the invention. Starting from bottom to top, theplatform 12 is attached and secured to thewristband 10 via 11 and 14.Platform 13 related tobase platform 12 by theratchet system components Component 21 provides the axis for the rotation ofplatform 13 on top ofbase platform 12. Although theratchet components Platform 15 is illustrated as being draw out to the limit and is stopped by thepin 19 which is a part ofplatform 13. Thepin 19 also acts as a clip to secure the position of theplatform 15. When theplatform 15 is pushed back into position, it is secured by that pin and clip action of 24 that is part of theplatform 13. Thefriction grip hinge 17 with built-in ratchet property provides the means for lifting and holding position desired for operating hand helddevice 20. The handheld device is secured byclip mechanism 18 that is attached to the back of thehandheld device 20. It clips on thereceptacle 25 onplatform 16. Although the drawing illustrates the clip on mechanism, other methods such as hook and loops, or magnet attachment are included part of the claims on this invention. Alternatively, if the holster of the specific handheld device is used, that holster can be secured via theclip system -
FIG. 5 illustrates the top view of the superimposed components of the wristband handheld device holder. - The device has a low profile and ergonomically thin to accommodate various handheld devices without being bulky or cumbersome for operation. This device facilitate rotation, sliding qualities that eliminates any unwanted hand twisting to observe the screen and make it much easier to operate the handheld device with no struggle and minimal effort.
- In addition, it make the operator hand truly free of any engagement while involved in other task or action or operation such as driving, running, walking, cooking, and other related activities.
- While the invention is susceptible of embodiments in many forms, these specifications and the accompanying drawings disclose only some specific forms as examples of the invention. This invention is not indented to be limited to the embodiment so described; however, the scope of the invention is pointed out in the appended claim.
