Abstract

A hair band with a firmly positioned decorative strip includes a band body and a decorative strip. The band body has a long hole, a grooved edge respectively formed in two sides of the long hole, plural lateral bridges extending to the grooved edges, an engaging recess respectively formed near two ends of the long hole, and a positioning projection formed on each engaging recess. The decorative strip is shaped as the long hole to be fitted above the grooved edges and the bridges, having two stop ridges respectively located near to two ends, two engaging ears respectively formed at two ends to correspond to the engaging recesses, and a positioning hole bored in each of the engaging ears. Thus, with the positioning holes locked by the positioning projections, the decorative strip can be fixedly positioned on the band body without possibility to fall off the band body.

Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • 1. Field of the Invention
  • This invention relates to a hair band with a firmly positioned decorative strip, particularly to one able to be firmly fitted with various changeable decorative strips of different colors.
  • 2. Description of the Prior Art
  • U.S. Pat. No. 5,826,597, titled as “hair band made with two differently colored pieces”, mainly includes a band body having a lengthwise hole formed in the center. Respectively formed in two sides of the lengthwise hole is a lengthwise grooved edge. A plurality of bridges are laterally located between the lengthwise grooved edges. An engaging recess is formed in an inner surface of each of the two ends of the lengthwise hole. A decorative strip is correspondingly shaped as the outline of the lengthwise long hole of the band body so as to be fitted above the lengthwise grooved edges and the bridges, provided with two opposite engaging ends respectively corresponding to the engaging recesses of the band body, and a stop ridge formed on an inside of each of the engaging ends. In using, as the engaging ends of the decorative strip are fitted in the lengthwise long hole of the band body, the decorative strip can be supported by the lengthwise grooved edges and the bridges to be tightly combined with the band body. With the stop ridges of the decorative strip engaged with the bridges nearest to two sides of the lengthwise long hole and with engaging ends engaged with the engaging recesses of the band body, the decorative strips with different colors can be alternately fitted on the band body firmly to satisfy the demand of a diversity of colors for the hair band. However, although the decorative strip is provided with the stop ridges to enable the engaging ends to be stopped by the engaging grooved edges of the band body, there is not a component designed for being really locked by the engaging ends, causing the engaging ends apt to part from the engaging recesses to therefore make the decorative strip fall off the band body when a user widens two ends of the hair band to wear it on, as shown in FIG. 1.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • The object of this invention is to offer a hair band provided with diverse colors of decorative strips, which can be firmly positioned on a band body.
  • The main characteristics of the invention are a band body and a changeable decorative strip.
  • The band body is provided with a center lengthwise long hole extending substantially therein, a lengthwise grooved edge respectively formed in two opposite sides of the center lengthwise long hole, a plurality of lateral bridges connecting the two opposite grooves edges, an engaging recess respectively provided in an inner surface near two ends of the center lengthwise long hole.
  • The decorative strip is correspondingly shaped as an outline of the center lengthwise long hole of the band body so as to be fitted above the center lengthwise grooved edges and the bridges, provided with two opposite stop ridges respectively located on an inner wall near to two ends, and two engaging ears respectively formed at two ends of the decorative strip.
  • The hair band is furthermore characterized by having the band body provided with a positioning projection located in each of the engaging recesses and having the decorative strip provided with a positioning hole bored in each of the engaging ears for being inserted by the positioning projection.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS
  • This invention is better understood by referring to the accompanying drawings, wherein:
  • FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a conventional hair band, showing it being outwardly widened;
  • FIG. 2 is an exploded perspective view of a preferred embodiment of a hair band with a firmly positioned decorative strip in the present invention;
  • FIG. 3 is a perspective view of the preferred embodiment of a hair band with a firmly positioned decorative strip in the present invention, showing how it is assembled;
  • FIG. 4 is a cross-sectional view of the preferred embodiment of a hair band with a firmly positioned decorative strip in the present invention;
  • FIG. 5 is a perspective view of the preferred embodiment of a hair band with a firmly positioned decorative strip in the present invention; and
  • FIG. 6 is a cross-sectional view of the preferred embodiment of a hair band with a firmly positioned decorative strip in the present invention, showing it being widened to be used.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
  • As shown in FIG. 2, a preferred embodiment of a hair band with a firmly positioned decorative strip in the present invention includes a band body 1 and a decorative strip 2 combined together.
  • The band body 1 is formed to curve for about more than a half circle, having a center lengthwise long hole 10 extending substantially therein, a lengthwise grooved edge 11 respectively formed in two opposite sides of the long hole 10, a plurality of lateral bridges 12 connecting the two opposite grooved edges 11, an engaging recess 13 respectively provided in an inner surface near two ends of the long hole 10, and a positioning projection 14 formed on an inside of each of the engaging recesses 13.
  • The decorative strip 2 is correspondingly shaped as the outline of the center lengthwise long hole 10 of the band body 1 so as to be fitted above the lengthwise grooved edges 11 and the bridges 12, provided with two opposite stop ridges 20 respectively located on an inner wall near to two ends, two engaging ears 21 respectively formed at two ends to correspond to the two engaging recesses 13 of the band body 1, and a positioning hole 22 bored in each of the engaging ears 21.
  • During assembly, as shown in FIGS. 3˜5, one end of the decorative strip 2 is first fitted in one end of the long hole 10, with one engaging ear 21 engaging with one engaging recess 13 of the band body 1, and with one positioning projection 14 locked in one positioning hole 22, so as to be firmly positioned inside the band body 1. By the same way, the other end of the decorative strip 2 is next fitted in the other end of the long hole 10, with the other engaging ear 21 engaging in the other engaging recess 13 of the band body 1, and with the other positioning projection 14 locked in the other positioning hole 22, so as to be firmly positioned inside the band body 1. Thus, with the two opposite positioning holes 22 of the decorative strip 2 locked by the two positioning projections 14 of the band body 1, the decorative strip 2 can be fixedly positioned on the band body 1.
  • In using, as shown in FIG. 6, when a user is to wear the hair band, she/he just needs to wide open two ends of the band body 1 without fear of making the decorative strip 2 fall off the band body 1 because of having not only the two positioning projections 14 of the band body 1 stably locked in the two opposite positioning holes 22 of the decorative strip 2, but also the two stop ridges 20 blocked by the two bridges 12 of the band body 1.
  • In releasing the decorative strip 2 from the band body 1, two ends of the decorative strip 2 are forced to move inwards to enable the two positioning projections 14 in the two engaging recesses 13 of the band body 1 to fall off the positioning holes 22 of the decorative strip 2. Then, two ends of the decorative strip 2 are reversely forced to move outwards so as to enable the two stop ridges 20 to separate from the bridges 12. So the decorative strip 2 on the band body 1 can be taken out and replaced with another one with other colors, if needed.
  • While the preferred embodiment of the invention has been described above, it will be recognized and understood that various modifications may be made therein and the appended claims are intended to cover all such modifications that may fall within the spirit and scope of the invention.
