  • BACKGROUND ART
  • There have been several different types of adhesive slender article holders granted U.S. patents. U.S. Pat. No. 3,627,182 is a slender article holder composed of a rigid material and has flanges on either side of the article holding location, which one can affix to a surface with a screw or nail. U.S. Pat. No. 5,880,713 is a slender article holder with multiple compartments that one can affix to the side of their computer or other devices. The said patent is made of a rigid material. US 2003/0059570 is a piece of corrugated plastic cardboard cut into different shapes, creating slender holes in which slender articles may be placed. The said patent allows one to clip multiple slender articles to items such as their shirt pocket. U.S. Pat. No. 3,800,974 is a slender article holder made of a rigid material that one may screw or nail to a given surface. Due to its expandable nature with male and female interlocking points it must be made of a material with proper rigidity. US 2002/0027357 is a slender article holder with a vertical opening down the entire face of the holder. One can insert a slender article in the holder through the opening on the face. The said article holder is made of material with enough rigidity to keep its shape and to keep the slender article in its place. U.S. Pat. No. 5,820,095 is a clip-on or adhesive article holder made of stiff yet resilient material with a vertical opening down the length such as the previous mentioned patent. This slender article holder has notches carved in strategic locations down the inner length of the inside of the holder that allows it to flex and allow smaller or larger slender articles to be held in it. U.S. Pat. No. 5,664,673 is comprised of a band of hook and loop material which one can strap around the front face of their computer monitor. After one has the band in place they may attach limitless objects to the side of their computer monitor including slender articles. U.S. Pat. No. 5,000,327 is a slender article and notepad holder that is designed for a wet environment. There are drainage points on the bottom so if the pockets that hold the slender article(s) or notepad(s) come to have liquid in them, they may drain.
  • BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • The slender article holder presented in this patent is different than all other slender article holders in that it's made of a non rigid material which allows the article holder to be rendered flat and allows it to conform to the shape of it's environment, as to not disrupt function of the surface in which it is applied when no slender article is present. Also, the material used has enough elasticity that it allows varying diameters of slender articles to fit in the loop appendage portion of the slender article holder. The slender article presented is comprised of a base portion that may be adhered to a surface and loop that has one entry port and one exit port, if vertically flipped the entry port becomes the exit port and the exit port becomes the entry port. In this loop portion one may insert a slender article for storage.

  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
  • Referring to FIG. 9, there are depicted embodiments of this invention illustrating the Exit/ Entry ports 1 and 3, loop appendage 2, flat base portion 4, and joining axis 5.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • The subject invention is a flexible, slender article holding device with an adhesive backing that can be applied to many surfaces. The subject invention is comprised of a flat base portion, joining axis, entry/exit ports, and the loop appendage. The subject invention keeps slender articles in a stationary position so that it is convenient for one to have a slender article at any time and when one wants. When a slender article is not present in the loop appendage, the loop appendage portion of the subject invention may be flattened or otherwise shaped so it does not obstruct or object items from closing or moving, such as: a notebook, a day planner, or a binder, though its use is not limited to those items. For example, in industry if one were to place the said invention on an item that may close or open often, the subject invention without the slender article present may be completely flattened or otherwise shaped to accommodate the shape of the location it is attached to. The subject invention is a one time use adhesive slender article holder that allows one to manage where slender articles may be present.

Claims (5)

1) A slender article holding device for usage on variable surfaces comprising:
a flat base portion;
a loop appendage that is attached to the flat base portion along the axis of the loop.
2) A slender article holding device of claim (1) made of a resilient and flexible material.
a) The flexible material of claim (2) allows the device of claim (1) to adhere to a surface and to have the ability to conform to the shape of the surface that it is applied to.
b) The flexible material of claim (2) allows elasticity of the loop so a slender article of slightly larger cross section than that of the loop can fit snuggly in the loop appendage.
c) The flexible material of claim (2) allows for the loop appendage to flatten under minimal pressure when a device is not inside the loop.
3) The slender article holder of claim (1) allows entry of articles into the ports on either end of loop appendage.
4) The base portion described in claim (1) not facing towards the object it is to be adhered to a given surface with a variety of adhesives.
a) The side of the adhesive described in claim (3) may be affixed to a magnet giving the device described in claim (1) the ability to be attracted to other surfaces with magnetic properties.
b) The side of the adhesive described in claim (3) may be of hook-and-loop fastening mechanism to a given surface.
c) The side of the adhesive described in claim (3) may be welded to a given surface.
d) The side of the adhesive described in claim (3) may be glued to a given surface.
e) The side of the adhesive described in claim (3) may be nailed or screwed to a given surface.
f) The side of the adhesive not facing the base described in claim (3) may be stitched to a surface with properties that would permit.
5) The material as described in claim (1) is of a form that it is conducive of graphics printing.
