Abstract
A file folder includes a rail member fixed to the connection portion of the file folder and the rail member includes a plurality of ribs extending from a surface thereof so as to define grooves between the ribs. The grooves communicate with openings in a top end and a lower end of the rail member. Each rib has a head on a distal end thereof and the head is wider than a width of the rib so as to form a narrow entrance corresponding to each groove. A holding unit has an elongate insertion which includes an enlarged ridge on a side thereof so as to be slidably inserted into the grooves via the openings and the insertion is sized to be slidably engaged with the narrow entrance. Document is positioned or collected by the holding unit.
Description
- The present invention relates to a file folder with individual holding units which are slidably connected to the file folder and can be removed from the folder individually.
- A conventional file folder generally includes a front cover, a back cover and a connection portion which connects the front cover and the back cover side by side. Document is received between the front and back covers. However, the document easily slips out from the file folder so that some manufacturers install plastic pockets to the file folder and the document can be received in the pockets. When using the document, the user has to pull the document from the pockets and the sheets of the document are not well positioned and easily blown away. After the document is used, the sheets have to be organized and put into the pocket and this may require a lot of time.
- The present invention intends to provide a file folder which includes individual file holding units which are able to be removed from the file folder individually and to collect the sheets of document by fasteners.
- The present invention relates to a file folder which comprises a front cover, a back cover and a connection portion which is connected between two ends of the front cover and the back cover. A rail member is fixed to the connection portion and includes a plurality of ribs extending from a surface thereof so as to define grooves between the ribs. The grooves communicate with openings in a top end and a lower end of the rail member. Each rib has a head on a distal end thereof and the head is wider than a width of the rib so as to form a narrow entrance corresponding to each groove. A holding unit has an elongate insertion which includes an enlarged ridge on a side thereof and the enlarged ridge is sized to be entered into the opening and the insertion is sized to be slidably engaged with the narrow entrance.
- The present invention will become more obvious from the following description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings which show, for purposes of illustration only, a preferred embodiment in accordance with the present invention.
-
FIG. 1 is an exploded view to show the file folder of the present invention; -
FIG. 2 is an enlarged exploded, view to show the file folder of the present invention; -
FIG. 3 shows the holding units are engaged with the grooves of the rail member of the file folder of the present invention; -
FIG. 4 shows a cross sectional view taken along line A-A inFIG. 3 , and -
FIG. 5 shows another embodiment of the file folder of the present invention. - Referring to
FIGS. 1 to 4 , thefile folder 1 of the present invention comprises afront cover 11, aback cover 12 and aconnection portion 13 which is connected between two ends of thefront cover 11 and theback cover 12. Arail member 2 is fixed to theconnection portion 13 by rivets and includes a plurality ofribs 22 extending from a surface thereof. Grooves are defined axially in therail member 2 by theribs 22 and communicate withopenings 23 in a top end and a lower end of therail member 2. Eachrib 22 has at least ahead 221 on a distal end thereof and thehead 221 is wider than a width of therib 22 so as to form anarrow entrance 21 corresponding to each groove. - A holding unit includes an
elongate insertion 3 and twoside plates 32, wherein an enlargedridge 31 is formed on a side thereof an the twoside plates 32 extend from the other side of theinsertion 3. The twoside plates 32 are flexible and can be pivoted toward each other as shown inFIGS. 3 and 4 . The enlargedridge 31 is sized to be entered into the opening 23 and theinsertion 3 is sized to be slidably engaged with thenarrow entrance 21. The enlargedridge 31 of theinsertion 3 is then stopped by theheads 221 on theribs 22 and the holding unit cannot be separated from therail member 2 via thenarrow entrance 21. A plurality offirst fasteners 321 andsecond fasteners 322 are located on the twoside plates 32 respectively. In this embodiment, each of thefirst fasteners 321 is a protrusion and each of thesecond fasteners 322 is a tubular member in which the protrusion is removably inserted. - Document composed of
sheets 4 are located between the twoside plates 32 and thefirst fasteners 321 extend through holes in thesheets 4 and are engaged with thesecond fasteners 322 to position thesheets 4. The holding unit is connected to therail member 2 by inserting the enlargedridge 31 into the groove via the opening 23 in either the top end of the lower end of therail member 2. The user can remove the holding units individually from therail member 2. -
FIG. 5 shows another embodiment of the file folder wherein the holding unit does not have theside plates 32 as shown in the previous embodiment and a plurality ofplastic pockets 33 are connected to the other side of theinsertion 3.Sheets 4 can be collected in theplastic pockets 33. - While we have shown and described the embodiment in accordance with the present invention, it should be clear to those skilled in the art that further embodiments may be made without departing from the, scope of the present invention.
