Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • 1. Field of the Invention
  • The present invention relates to a spatial molded object, and more particularly to a spatial molded object including a molded and interpenetrating structure that may be made or formed with a single molding process without specially designed mold devices.
  • 2. Description of the Prior Art
  • Typical spatial molded objects comprise an outer hollow body, an intermediate hollow body, and an inner hollow body formed or molded together and having an interpenetrating structure, or the hollow bodies are interpenetrating with each other so as to create an integral structure with a continuous inner surface and an outer patterned surface.
  • For example, U.S. Pat. No. 6,349,841 to Basara discloses one of the typical box-like containers, such as the containers of various shapes and sizes, having an intermediating structure and comprising an inner hollow body, and an outer hollow body intermediating with each other.
  • However, two sets of mold devices are required for molding or injecting one material first in order to form a prototype having a selected shape, and another material is then required to be molded or injected into the prototype for forming the molded hollow objects. Accordingly, two sets of mold devices are required and two or more molding or mold injecting processes are required for forming the molded hollow objects, such that the molded hollow objects may not be manufactured quickly.
  • In addition, for forming different patterns onto the outer peripheral portion of the molded hollow objects, a number of different mold devices are required to be provided and to have different patterns formed and provided therein, or a predetermined mold device may only be used to form a selected pattern only, but may not be used to form the other pattern.
  • The present invention has arisen to mitigate and/or obviate the afore-described disadvantages of the conventional spatial molded objects.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • The primary objective of the present invention is to provide a spatial molded object including a molded and interpenetrating structure that may be made or formed with a single molding process and with the typically used mold device, without specially designed mold devices.
  • In accordance with one aspect of the invention, there is provided a spatial molded object comprising an inner spatial member including a chamber formed therein and defined by an outer peripheral wall which includes an outer peripheral surface provided thereon, and an outer peripheral member including a pattern provided on an outer peripheral surface thereof, and including at least one opening formed therein, and the inner spatial member is molded in an inner portion of the outer peripheral member with a material, and the material is filled into the opening of the outer peripheral member for forming at least one spatial pattern on the outer peripheral surface of the inner spatial member and for allowing the outer peripheral member and the inner spatial member to be solidly secured together.
  • The inner spatial member includes a bottom panel attached to a bottom portion of the outer peripheral wall for forming the chamber of the inner spatial member.
  • The inner spatial member includes a peripheral flange extended radially and outwardly from an upper portion thereof for engaging with the outer peripheral member and for solidly retaining the outer peripheral member to the inner spatial member.
  • Further objectives and advantages of the present invention will become apparent from a careful reading of the detailed description provided hereinbelow, with appropriate reference to the accompanying drawings.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a spatial molded object in accordance with the present invention;
  • FIG. 2 is a cross sectional view of the spatial molded object, taken along lines 2-2 of FIG. 1;
  • FIG. 3 is a plan schematic view illustrating a planar member for forming the spatial molded hollow;
  • FIG. 4 is a plan schematic view similar to FIG. 3, illustrating the planar member after being conducted with a cutting or shaping process;
  • FIG. 5 is a perspective view illustrating an outer covering member of the spatial molded object; and
  • FIG. 6 is a perspective view illustrating an inner container or spatial member of the spatial molded object.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
  • Referring to the drawings, and initially to FIGS. 1 and 2, a spatial molded object 1 in accordance with the present invention comprises an inner spatial member 10 (FIG. 6) including a chamber 11 formed therein and defined by an outer peripheral wall 12 which includes an outer peripheral surface 13 provided thereon, and a bottom panel 14 formed or molded or attached to the bottom portion of the outer peripheral wall 12. It is preferable that the inner spatial member 10 is made of harder plastic materials, and includes a peripheral flange 15 extended radially and outwardly from the upper portion thereof (FIGS. 2, 6). The inner spatial member 10 may also be formed into various kinds of spatial members, such as hollow cups, containers, platters, trays, covers for various desks or objects, or planar decorative members.
  • An outer peripheral member 20 includes a pattern 21 formed or applied or provided on the outer peripheral surface 22 thereof, and includes one or more openings 23 cut or formed therein (FIG. 5) by such as cutting or shaping or trimming processes. It is preferable that the outer peripheral member 20 is made of soft or resilient plastic materials softer than the materials for forming the inner spatial member 10 and having a spatial pattern 21 formed or applied or provided thereon by such as knurling or pressing processes or the like, and/or by such as rollers, or the like. The peripheral flange 15 of the inner spatial member 10 may be engaged with the outer peripheral member 20 (FIG. 2) for solidly retaining the outer peripheral member 20 to the inner spatial member 10 or on the outer peripheral of the inner spatial member 10.
  • For example, as shown in FIG. 3, the outer peripheral member 20 may be made from a planar member 24 having the pattern 21 or the spatial pattern 21 formed or applied or provided thereon, and having the openings 23 cut or formed therein (FIG. 5) by such as cutting or shaping or trimming processes. The planar member 24 may first be cut or shaped into a sector shape as shown in FIG. 4, and includes two side edges 25, 26 to be merged or secured or adhered together to form the outer peripheral member 20 as shown in FIG. 5.
  • The outer peripheral member 20 is then disposed into a mold cavity of a mold device (not shown), and a material is then filled or injected into the mold cavity of the mold device for molding and forming the inner spatial member 10 in the inner portion of the outer peripheral member 20, and/or for forming or molding the peripheral flange 15 on the upper portion of the inner spatial member 10. The material filled or injected into the mold cavity of the mold device is preferable compatible with the plastic materials of the outer peripheral member 20 for allowing the outer peripheral member 20 and the inner spatial member 10 to be solidly molded or secured together.
  • In addition, the material filled or injected into the mold cavity of the mold device may also be filled or injected into the openings 23 cut or formed in the outer peripheral member 20, for forming the spatial pattern 16 on the outer peripheral surface 13 of the inner spatial member 10 (FIGS. 1, 2, 6), and thus for allowing the outer peripheral member 20 and the inner spatial member 10 to be further solidly secured together to form the spatial molded object, as shown in FIG. 1, in accordance with the present invention.
  • It is to be noted that the material filled or injected into the mold cavity of the mold device may be simultaneously and quickly filled or injected into the openings 23 cut or formed in the outer peripheral member 20, for forming the spatial pattern 16 on the outer peripheral surface 13 of the inner spatial member 10, such that the outer peripheral member 20 and the inner spatial member 10 may be solidly secured together, and such that the spatial molded object in accordance with the present invention may be quickly made or formed with a single molding process.
  • It is further to be noted that the material for forming the inner spatial member 10 is or will be harder than the outer peripheral member 20 after the inner spatial member 10 has been cooled down, and the outer peripheral member 20 will also be softer than the inner spatial member 10 after the molding process, for allowing the soft outer peripheral member 20 to be comfortably contacted by the users.
  • It is further to be noted that a mold device having a mold cavity formed therein is required to be provided for forming the spatial molded object, and the soft outer peripheral member 20 may be simply engaged into the mold cavity of the mold device, and the material filled or injected into the mold cavity of the mold device may also be filled or injected into the openings 23 of the outer peripheral member 20 for forming the spatial pattern 16 on the outer peripheral surface 13 of the inner spatial member 10.
  • Accordingly, different outer peripheral members 20 may have different patterns or openings 23 cut or formed therein for easily forming different spatial patterns 16 on the inner spatial member 10. Only one single mold device that is typically used for forming the objects is required for forming the objects, and no additional mold devices are required. Only different soft outer peripheral members 20 are required to be provided and engaged into the mold cavity of the mold device for readily forming the spatial molded objects.
  • Accordingly, the spatial molded object in accordance with the present invention includes a molded and hollow and interpenetrating structure that may be made or formed with a single molding process without specially designed mold devices.
  • Although this invention has been described with a certain degree of particularity, it is to be understood that the present disclosure has been made by way of example only and that numerous changes in the detailed construction and the combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed.
