Abstract
A kit for alerting emergency personnel that a person involved in an accident or in a medical emergency is an expectant mother. The kit comprises at least one of a medical alert bracelet to be worn on such expectant mother's wrist; an identification card to be carried by one of a wallet, a purse and a chain which will be worn around such expectant mother's neck; and at least one decal for attachment to at least one selected window of a vehicle.
Description
- The present invention relates in general to an alerting system, and more specifically the present invention relates to a alerting system placed on automobiles and carried by an expectant mother to alert medical personnel that the accident victim is an expectant mother.
- It is important that emergency medical personnel be aware of various conditions that are present with a person in an automobile or other vehicle in the event of an accident or in the event of other medical emergencies. People with heart problems can wear a bracelet denoting such; similarly persons that are on blood thinners are instructed to have that information on a bracelet or other identifiable means. These and similar medical problems which affect an individual are important data that emergency personnel must be able to identify in the event of an accident, or other emergency, so that such medical personnel are able to perform proper procedures. This is very important in the event that the victim is unconscious or unable to talk. Similarly it is also important for such medical personnel to be aware that the person involved in the accident is an expectant mother particularly if such condition is not visibly evident.
- The present invention provides a kit for alerting emergency personnel that a person involved in an accident or in a medical emergency is an expectant mother. The kit comprises at least one of a medical alert bracelet to be worn on such expectant mother's wrist; an identification card to be carried in one of a wallet, a purse and a chain which will be worn around such expectant mother's neck; and at least one decal for attachment to at least one selected window of a vehicle.
- It is, therefore, one of the primary objects of the present invention to provide a kit which includes decals to be placed on automobile windows to alert medical personnel that an accident victim is an expectant mother.
- Another object of the present invention is to provide a kit which includes a medical alert bracelet for such expectant mother to wear indicating such condition.
- Yet, another object of the present invention is to provide a kit which includes a medical alert identification card which would include important medical information such as allergies, obstetrician's name and phone number as well as other important medical information.
- Still another object of the present invention is to include the due date of such expectant mother on the decals, ID card and the bracelet.
- These and various other objects and advantages of this invention will become apparent after a full reading of the following detailed description, particularly, when read in conjunction with the attached drawings as described below and the appended claims.
-
FIG. 1 is a drawing of decal for placement on a car window. -
FIG. 2 is a drawing of a medical alert bracelet indicating that such wearer is an expectant mother. -
FIG. 3 is a drawing of the front side of a medical alert identification card for an expectant mother to carry. -
FIG. 4 is a drawing of the back side of a medical alert identification card shown inFIG. 2 . -
FIG. 5 is a drawing of another decal for placement on a car window. -
FIG. 6 is a drawing of a medical alert kit. - Prior to proceeding with the more detailed description of the present invention it should be noted that, for the sake of clarity, identical components which have identical functions have been designated by identical reference numerals throughout the several views illustrated in the drawings.
- Reference is now made to
FIGS. 1-6 , illustrated therein are different medical alert items that are included in a medical alert kit, generally designated 100. An example ofsuch kit 100 is shown inFIG. 6 . - Illustrated in
FIGS. 1 and 5 is a decal, generally designated 10.Such kit 100 may include at least onedecal 10. Thedecal 10 is designed to be positioned on the driver's side window (not shown) while anotherdecal 10 is to be placed on the rear window of such vehicle. Thedecal 10 would indicate that an expectant mother is in the vehicle. Vehicle, as used here, indicates any of the vehicles commonly driven such as automobiles, trucks, SUVs, vans, or even motorcycles. The use of the word automobile in the specification is used in place of vehicle since it is probably the most common form of vehicle driven; however, the use of the word automobile is not meant to exclude any of the other vehicles listed above. - The
kit 100 also includes a medical alert bracelet, generally designated 20, which is illustrated inFIG. 2 .Such bracelet 20 would be similar to medical alert bracelets that are worn by heart patients, users of blood thinners, diabetics, and persons with other similar medical problems; however, this bracelet would carry the information that the wearer is an expectant mother. It is also presently preferred thatsuch bracelet 20 be adjustable so that it can be worn by persons with different size wrists. - Another item included in the
kit 100 is an identification card, generally designated 30. Such identification card is evident inFIGS. 3 and 4 .Such card 30 would have written on it the person's name, allergies, medical info, obstetrician's name on the front side of the card while a list current medications and emergency contacts would be listed on the reverse side of thecard 30.Such identification card 30 is carried by such expectant mother in a purse, a wallet or on a chain worn around the neck. - It is presently preferred that
such kit 100 include theidentification card 30, themedical alert bracelet 20 and the pair ofdecals 10.Such kit 100 also is designed to include a permanent marker for writing on theidentification card 30. It is also presently preferred thatsuch identification card 30, themedical alert bracelet 20 and the pair ofdecals 10 include the expected due date of the expectant mother. - While both the presently preferred and a number of alternative embodiments of the present invention have been described in detail above it should be understood that various other adaptations and modifications of the present invention can be envisioned by those persons who are skilled in the relevant art without departing from either the spirit of the invention or the scope of the appended claims.
