Abstract

The present invention describes an optical disc cake box. The optical disc cake box has a stencil layer and a cone-shaped body. The cone-shaped body is integrally formed with the stencil layer by the injection molding process so that the optical disc cake box has a better decoration, artistry and advertisement. Efficiency of manufacturing the optical disc cake box is improved to meet mass production requirements.

Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • 1. Field of the Invention
  • The present invention relates to an optical disc cake box, and in particular to an optical disc cake box for storing a plurality of optical discs and having better decoration, artistry, and advertisement, and for which efficiency of manufacturing is improved.
  • 2. Description of Related Art
  • Optical disc cake boxes and optical disc slim cases are common containers for storage of optical discs. There are a variety types of optical disc cake boxes and optical disc slim cases available on the market. Reference is made to FIG. 1. FIG. 1 illustrates a conventional optical disc cake box for storing different types of optical discs, such as, for example, compact discs, laser discs, video CDs, and DVDs. The optical disc box cone 5 is hollow and cone-shaped and has an opening at its bottom. The optical disc box cone 5 has a disc-receiving space 51 for storing optical discs. A plurality of protrusions 52 are horizontally positioned at the bottom of the optical disc box cone 5 and used to connect with a lower cover 6. An annular protrusion fringe 61 is positioned at peripheral of the lower cover 6 and has a plurality of grooves 62 corresponding to the protrusions 52 of the optical disc box cone 5. When the optical disc box cone 5 is placed on the lower cover 6, the optical disc box cone 5 is rotated with respect to the lower cover 6 so that the protrusions 52 are inserted into the corresponding grooves 62. Thus, the optical disc box cone 5 is combined with the lower cover 6.
  • However, all conventional optical disc cake boxes are virtually identical in appearance. It is difficult to make a consumer notice the boxes because the optical disc cake boxes lack decoration, artistry, and advertisement. Although stickers having characters and drawings are applied to surfaces of the optical disc cake boxes, stickers need to be additionally prepared. Besides, it is time-consuming and laborious to have stickers applied on the surfaces of the optical disc cake boxes. Thus, efficiency of manufacturing the optical disc cake boxes cannot be improved and cannot meet mass production requirements.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • It is an object of the present invention to provide an optical disc cake box. The optical disc cake box has better decoration, artistry, and advertisement, and is efficiently manufactured in accord with mass production requirements.
  • To achieve the object of the present invention, the optical disc cake box comprises a stencil layer and a cone-shaped body. The stencil layer has characters and drawings, and the cone-shaped body is integrally formed with the stencil layer by injection molding. Thus, the stencil layer is positioned on a surface of the cone-shaped body.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • The present invention can be fully understood from the following detailed description and preferred embodiment with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:
  • FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a conventional optical disc cake box;
  • FIG. 2 is a first drawing schematically illustrating the manufacturing process of an optical disc cake box according to the present invention;
  • FIG. 3 is a second drawing schematically illustrating the manufacturing process of an optical disc cake box according to the present invention;
  • FIG. 4 is a third drawing schematically illustrating the manufacturing process of an optical disc cake box according to the present invention;
  • FIG. 5 is a fourth drawing schematically illustrating the manufacturing process of an optical disc cake box according to the present invention;
  • FIG. 6 is a cross-sectional view of an optical disc cake box according to the present invention; and
  • FIG. 7 is a perspective view of an optical disc cake box according to the present invention.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
  • The following detailed description is of the best presently contemplated modes of carrying out the invention. This description is not to be taken in a limiting sense, but is made merely for the purpose of illustrating general principles of embodiments of the invention. The scope of the invention is best defined by the appended claims.
  • Reference is made to FIGS. 6 and 7. FIGS. 6 and 7 illustrate an optical disc cake box of the present invention. FIGS. 2 to 5 illustrate the manufacturing process of an optical disc cake of the present invention. According to the manufacturing process of the present invention, a stencil layer 2 is pre-defined, transparent, and made of plastic. The stencil layer 2 is annular and thin-walled, and has a pattern 21 with decoration, artistry and advertisement. The pattern 21 may be characters or drawings.
  • The stencil layer 2 is moved into a cavity 41 of a female die 4 of a mold (as shown in FIG. 2) by a jig 3. The stencil layer 2 is separated from the jig 3 by blown air so that the stencil layer 2 is applied to an inner surface of the cavity 41 of the female die 4, as shown in FIG. 3. Then, the jig 3 is moved and a male die 5 of the mold is combined with the female die 4 by mold clamping, as shown in FIG. 4.
  • The mold is used in an injection molding process. A cone-shaped body 1 of the optical disc cake box is manufactured by insert molding and within the mold, as shown in FIG. 5. The cone-shaped body 1 is integrally formed with the stencil layer 2 by the injection molding process so that the stencil layer 2 is positioned on a surface of the cone-shaped body 1.
  • Reference is made to FIGS. 6 and 7. The optical disc cake box of the present invention includes the cone-shaped body 1 and the stencil layer 2. The cone-shaped body 1 is integrally formed with the stencil layer 2 by the injection molding process so that the optical disc cake box has a better decoration, artistry and advertisement as a result of the pattern 21 of the stencil layer 2. The cone-shaped body 1 has a disc-receiving space 11 for storing optical discs. A plurality of protrusions 12 are horizontally positioned at the bottom of the cone-shaped body 1 and used to connect with a lower cover (not shown).
  • According to the present invention, the cone-shaped body 1 is integrally formed with the stencil layer 2 by the injection molding process, without applying stickers on the cone-shaped body 1. Thus, manufacturing process for the optical disk cake box is much easier and efficiency of manufacturing the optical disk cake box is improved in accord with mass production requirements. Besides, the cone-shaped body 1 is integrally formed with the stencil layer 2 by the injection molding process so that the stencil layer 2 will not be stripped off.
  • While the invention has been described with reference to the preferred embodiments, the description is not intended to be construed in a limiting sense. It is therefore contemplated that the appended claims will cover any such modifications or embodiments as may fall within the scope of the invention defined by the following claims and their equivalents.
