Abstract
A screw head slot shaper includes a shank and a head slot molding member formed on an upper end of the shank. The shake can be of any shape and of a proper length. The head slot molding member has plural square layers, which respectively have different sizes. So a single screw head slot shaper can manufacture screws with a head formed with a single layer slot, a two-layered slot or a three-layered slot depending on demands. Thus many different tools may conveniently be used for driving screws with a head with a slot of a single or plural square layers.
Description
- This invention relates to a screw head slot shaper, particularly to one provided with a shank and a head slot molding member on the shank.
- The head slot molding member consists of a plurality of square layers of different sizes formed in a vertical condition. So screw heads provided with a slot with one layer or more layers can be shaped by a pressing process by means of the screw head slot shaper in the invention.
- A conventional screw head slot shaper shown in
FIG. 1 includes a shank (A), a head slot molding member (A0) formed on the shank (A), and the head slot molding member (A0) is composed of a square mold (A1) of a single layer. So every screw shaped by this conventional screw head slot shaper only has a screw with a head (B0) with a slot (B1) of a single layer as shown inFIG. 2 . If a screw with a different shaped slot is to be made, a different screw head slot shaper has to be used, therefore, many screw head slot shapers are needed for manufacturing screws with heads of different slots, so the cost should be increased, and in addition, the screw head slot only has one size, so only one kind of tool can be used for driving the screw, impossible to employ various tools for driving the screw. - This invention has been devised to offer screw head slot shaper, which is possible to form various shapes of a slot in the screw head.
- 1. One feature of the invention is the head slot molding member formed on the shank of a screw head slot shaper, and the head slot molding member is composed of plural square layers of different sizes formed in a vertical condition.
- 2. Another feature of the invention is plural square layers, which has two or three square layers respectively having different sizes.
- 3. One more feature of the invention is one single screw head slot shaper can form screw head slots of a single, or of plural square layers.
- This invention will be better understood by referring to the accompanying drawings, wherein;
-
FIG. 1 is a side view of a conventional screw head slot shaper; -
FIG. 2 is a side cross-sectional view of a screw made by the conventional screw head slot shaper shown inFIG. 1 ; -
FIG. 3 is an upper view of a screw head slot shaper in the present invention; -
FIG. 4 is a side view of the screw head slot shaper in the present invention; -
FIG. 5 is a perspective view of the screw head slot shaper in the present invention; -
FIG. 6 is a perspective view of other two embodiments (A) and (B) of screw head slot shapers in the present invention; -
FIG. 7 is a perspective view of other three embodiments (A), (B) and (C) of screw head slot shapers in the present invention; and, -
FIG. 8 is a cross-sectional view of three different screws (A), (B) and (C) made by various embodiments of screw head slot shapers in the present invention. - A preferred embodiment of a screw head slot shaper in the present invention as shown in
FIGS. 3, 4 and 5, includes ashank 1 and a headslot molding member 10 formed on theshank 1. - The
shank 1 can be of any shape and has a proper length as shown inFIGS. 4, 5 and 6. - The head
slot molding member 10 has threesquare layers N 1.742 mm, #1 has a width of square being 2.268N 2.263 mm, #2 has a width of square being 2.801N 2.796 mm, #3 has a width of square being 3,314N 3.309 mm, and #4 has a width of square being 4.772N 4.767 mm. Therefore, three kinds of slots sizes can be chosen from these five regulated sizes for forming three different square layers, depending on demands. Then either a screw 2 of ahead 20 with a slot 210 with a single layer shown inFIG. 8 (A), or a screw 2 with ahead 20 with aslot 21A of two square layers shown inFIG. 8 (B) or a screw 2 with ahead 20 with aslot 21B of three square layers shown inFIG. 8 (C) can be made by only one screw head slot shaper in the present invention. - Next,
FIG. 7 shows a screw slot head shaper provided with twosquare layers shanks 1 of different shapes. Thesquare layers N 1.742 mm, #1 has a width of square being 2.268N 2.263 mm, #2 has a width of square being 2.801N 2.796 mm, #3 has a width of square being 3.314N 3.309 mm and $4 has a width of square being 4,772N 4.767 mm. Thus, any two of the five sizes can be selected for the two square layers for making the screw head slot shapers shown inFIG. 7 (A), (B) and (C), for forming screws 2 with ahead slot FIG. 8 (A) or 8 (C). - As can be understood from the aforesaid description, the screw head slot shaper in the invention has the following advantages.
- 1. A single screw head shaper can manufacture many screws with head slots of one or plural layers, saving the cost required for the screw head slot shaper.
- 2. Many kinds of tools can be used for driving screws with different slots made by a single screw head slot shaper in the invention.
- While the preferred embodiment of the invention has been described above, it will be recognized and understood that various modifications may be made therein and the appended claims are intended to cover all such modifications that may fall within the spirit and scope of the invention.
