Abstract

A combination computer desk is constructed to include two main desks arranged at right angles, and an auxiliary sector desk connected between the main desks by connectors. Each main desk has pedestals, a top frame connected between the pedestals, the top frame having two opposite sides respectively fitted into a respective horizontal mounting groove in each pedestals and fixedly secured thereto with screws, and a main table top mounted in the top frame.

Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • 1. Field of the Invention [0001]
  • The present invention relates to a computer desk and, more particularly, to a combination computer desk. [0002]
  • 2. Description of the Related Art [0003]
  • Following fast development of computer technology, a variety of computers and computer peripheral apparatus are commercially available. In order to fit the use of computers and computer peripheral apparatus, furniture specifically designed for computers and computer peripheral apparatus have been continuously created. A computer desk must be of a friendly design that enables the user to operate the computer comfortably. [0004]
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • It is the main object of the present invention to provide a combination computer desk, which can easily be installed. It is another object of the present invention to provide a combination computer desk, which is stable in use. It is another object of the present invention to provide a combination computer desk, which can be easily be set up in any of a variety of forms. To achieve these and other objects of the present invention, the combination computer desk comprises at least one main desk. Each main desk comprises: two pedestals, the pedestals each having a horizontal mounting groove at an inner side near the topmost edge thereof; a top frame connected between the pedestals, the top frame having two opposite sides respectively fitted into the horizontal mounting grooves of the pedestals and fixedly secured thereto with screws; and a main table top mounted in the top frame. Further, two main desks can be arranged at right angles with one auxiliary sector desk connected between the main desks by connectors.[0005]

  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
  • Referring to FIGS. 1, 2, and [0012] 5, a main desk 1 is shown comprised of two pedestals 10 and 10′, a rectangular metal top frame 20, a main desk top 30, and a keyboard rack 40.
  • The [0013] pedestals 10 and 10′ are made of wooden material, each comprising a frame 11 or 11′, a panel 12 or 12′ mounted within the frame 11 or 11′, and two legs 13 or 13′ bilaterally located on the bottom side of the frame 11 or 11′. The frame 11 or 11′ has a horizontal coupling groove 14 at an inner side near the top. The rectangular metal top frame 20 is horizontally connected between the pedestals 10 and 10′, having two opposite short sides respectively fitted into the horizontal coupling grooves 14 of the pedestals 10 and 10′ and fixedly secured thereto by screws 21. The main desk top 30 is a rectangular flat plate made of, for example, glass, and mounted within the rectangular metal top frame 20. The keyboard rack 40 is fixedly provided at the bottom side of the top frame 20 on the middle.
  • Referring to FIGS. 3A, 3B, [0014] 4, and 5, two main desks 1 and 1′ are arranged at right angles, and an auxiliary sector desk 5 is fitted into the contained angle A defined between the main desks 1. The auxiliary sector desk 5 comprises a plurality of metal connecting plates 50, a plurality of horizontal slots 60 formed in the panels 12 and 12′ of the pedestals 10 and 10′ near the top, a metal sector frame 70, and a sector desk top 80. The metal connecting plates 50 are respectively inserted through the horizontal slots 60 in the panels 12 and 12′ of the pedestals 10 and 10′ and connected between the main desks 1 and the metal sector frame 70 to secure the auxiliary sector desk 5 to the main desks 1 and 1′. Each metal connecting plate 50 comprises a horizontal bottom wall 51 supported in one horizontal slot 60, a first horizontal top wall 54 attached to the bottom surface of the rectangular metal top frame 20 of one main desk 1 or 1′, the first horizontal top wall 54 having a plurality of mounting holes 55 respectively fastened to the bottom surface of the rectangular metal top frame 20 of the corresponding main desk 1 or 1′ by a respective screw 56, a second horizontal top wall 54′ attached to the bottom surface of the metal sector frame 70, the second horizontal top wall 54′ having a plurality of mounting holes 55′ respectively fastened to the bottom surface of the metal sector frame 70 by a respective screw 71, and two sidewalls 52 and 53 bilaterally connected between the horizontal bottom wall 51 and the horizontal top walls 54 and 54′. After installation of the metal sector frame 70, the sector desk top 80.is mounted within the metal sector frame 70.
  • Further, [0015] anti-skid pads 22 and 72 are respectively located on the rectangular metal top frame 20 and the metal sector frame 70 to support the rectangular main desk top 30 and the sector desk top 80 respectively.
  • A prototype of combination computer desk has been constructed with the features of FIGS. [0016] 1˜5. The combination computer desk functions smoothly to provide all of the features discussed earlier.
  • Although a particular embodiment of the invention has been described in detail for purposes of illustration, various modifications and enhancements may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention. Accordingly, the invention is not to be limited except as by the appended claims. [0017]

Claims (19)

What the invention claimed is:
1. A combination computer desk comprising at least one main desk, said at least one main desk each comprising:
two pedestals, said pedestals, each having a horizontal mounting groove at an inner side near the topmost edge thereof;
a top frame connected between said pedestals, said top frame having two opposite sides respectively fitted into the horizontal mounting grooves of said pedestals and fixedly secured thereto with screws; and
a main table top mounted in said top frame.
2. The combination computer desk as claimed in claim 1, wherein said pedestals each comprise a pedestal frame, a panel mounted within said pedestal frame, and two legs bilaterally located on a bottom side of said pedestal frame; the horizontal mounting groove of each of said pedestals is formed in the pedestal frame of the respective pedestal at an inner side.
3. The combination computer desk as claimed in claim 2, wherein said pedestals are made of wooden material.
4. The combination computer desk as claimed in claim 1, wherein said top frame is a rectangular metal frame.
5. The combination computer desk as claimed in claim 1, wherein said pedestals each have a plurality of horizontal slots disposed near the topmost edge thereof, and a plurality of connectors respectively mounted in said horizontal slots.
6. The combination computer desk as claimed in claim 5, wherein said connectors are respectively formed of a metal connecting plate.
7. The combination computer desk as claimed in claim 5, wherein said connectors each have a horizontal bottom wall fitted into one horizontal slot of one pedestal of one of said at least one main desk, a first horizontal top wall fixedly fastened to the top frame of the corresponding main desk, a second horizontal top wall disposed outside the corresponding main desk for supporting an external object, and two sidewalls bilaterally connected between said horizontal bottom wall and said first and second horizontal top walls.
8. The combination computer desk as claimed in claim 7, wherein said first and second horizontal top walls are horizontally aligned.
9. The combination computer desk as claimed in claim 7, wherein said at least one main desk includes two main desks connected to each other at an angle; an auxiliary desk is provided between said two main desks and fastened to the second horizontal top walls of the connectors at the adjacent sides of said two main desks.
10. The combination computer desk as claimed in claim 9, wherein said auxiliary desk comprises an auxiliary desk top frame fixedly fastened to the second horizontal top walls of the respective connectors of said two main desks, and an auxiliary desk top mounted in said auxiliary desk top frame.
11. The combination computer desk as claimed in claim 9, wherein said two main desks are arranged at right angles.
12. The combination computer desk as claimed in claim 1, wherein each of said at least one main desk each further comprises a keyboard rack fixedly provided at a bottom side of the respective top frame.
13. A combination computer desk comprising:
two main desks connected at an angle and defining therebetween a contained angle, said main desk each comprising two pedestals, said pedestals each having a horizontal mounting groove at an inner side near the topmost edge thereof and a plurality of horizontal slots disposed below said horizontal mounting groove, a top frame connected between said pedestals, said top frame having two opposite sides respectively fitted into the horizontal mounting grooves of said pedestals and fixedly secured thereto with screws, and a main table top mounted in said top frame;
an auxiliary desk connected between said main desks in said contained angle, said auxiliary desk each comprising an auxiliary desk top frame, and an auxiliary desk top mounted in said auxiliary desk top frame; and
a plurality of connectors respectively connected between said main desks and said auxiliary desk, said connectors each comprising a horizontal bottom wall fitted into one horizontal slot of one pedestal of one of said main desks, a first horizontal top wall fixedly fastened to the top frame of one of said main desks, a second horizontal top wall fixedly fastened to the auxiliary desk top frame of said auxiliary desk, and two sidewalls bilaterally connected between said horizontal bottom wall and said first and second horizontal top walls.
14. The combination computer desk as claimed in claim 13, wherein the pedestals of said main desks are made of wooden material, each comprising a pedestal frame, a panel mounted within said pedestal frame, and two legs bilaterally located on a bottom side of said pedestal frame.
15. The combination computer desk as claimed in claim 13, wherein the top frame of each of said main desks is a rectangular metal frame.
16. The combination computer desk as claimed in claim 13, wherein said connectors are respectively formed of a metal connecting plate.
17. The combination computer desk as claimed in claim 13, wherein the first and second horizontal top walls of each of said connectors are horizontally aligned.
18. The combination computer desk as claimed in claim 13, wherein said two main desks are connected at right angles.
19. The combination computer desk as claimed in claim 13, wherein said main desks each further comprise a keyboard rack provided at a bottom side of the respective top frame.
