Abstract

An adornment made of metal sheet, jewelry, to applied to fingernails and the method for applying the jewelry to the fingernail. It is the object of this invention to provide an adornment for artificial fingernails which is easily applied and yet remains securely in place on top of the fingernail. The adornment curves with the shape of the nail and is secured on the underside with the use of polymers, is varied in its edge and surface designs.

Description

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

This invention relates to a decorative piece of jewelry and in particular to a piece of jewelry that is to be secured to the artificial fingernail as an adornment. This adornment can be easily attached and removed from the nail, yet is held in place sufficiently.

The purpose of the present invention is to provide adornment which can be applied and secured to the artificial fingernail adding to the attractiveness thereof, and providing a suitable means for securing it to the nail to prevent the loss thereof, at the same time permitting the removal and or application as is desired by the wearer.

Jewelry devices of the prior art were attached to the nail in varying means and styles. One device required the wearer to puncture an insertion hole in the nail to secure the jewelry by clamping top and bottom thru the nail. Another jewelry device clamped on one side of the fingernail applying a pressure foot to the underside. Some devices were adapted to fit over the tip of the nail as a cap or extension.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

Well groomed fingernails short as well as long have been considered an attractive feature to many people. The adornment of nails adds to their beauty. The artificial fingernail adornment of the present invention will henceforth be referred to as “Nail Clips”. Nail Clips comprises a decorative piece of thin precious metal sheet that is molded to the end of a fingernail or to any area of the fingernail extended past the digit. This nail clip primarily would be made of gold, silver, platinum, copper or nickel silver, however it does not need to be limited to these materials.

The nail clip may be made to hold designs within the surface of the nail clip by the use of cutting away a shape or design, acid etching, photo etching, engraving, stamping or embossing. The metal is placed onto the fingernail and with little pressure the excess material is crimped onto the underside of the nail, thus holding it into place.

It is therefore the object of this invention to provide adornment for the artificial fingernail. It is the object of this invention to provide a fingernail adornment that does not require an insertion hole in the nail or does not act like a cap or an extension, but to be placed on the extended part of the fingernail in whatever position the user so chooses.

It is a further object of this invention to provide an adornment with suitable means for securing it to prevent the loss thereof. It is yet a further object of this invention to provide an adornment that has versatility in the finish thereof. Thus allowing the wearer to choose a unique or custom appearance but the attachment method is the same for all pieces. It is yet a further object of this invention to provide adornment that is durable for extended use.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

With reference to FIG. 1 there is a illustrated top view of the [0018] finger 1, and fingernail 2. The basic nail clip 3 as it would generally appear after being manipulated to conform and be attached to the top of the nail.
With reference to FIG. 2 there is a illustrated bottom view of the [0019] finger 1 and the fingernail 2 underside. We see the crimped part of the nail clip 3 that will attach to the fingernail where a polymer would be used.

The present invention is directed to be an adornment, jewelry, and a method for applying the adornment to artificial fingernails. The nail clip is to be made primarily, but not limited to precious metal sheets otherwise known as raw materials. The nail clip has a variety of edge and surface designs as applied by a variety of jewelry techniques. [0028]
A nail clip is created by the use of a stamping system. A dye is cut for each specific edge design that is desired and then used to stamp out that shape by the use of a press, each individual nail clip is cut. Surface design variety is achieved by the use of acid etching, photo etching, engraving, embossing or the use of a dye for the stamping our of various shapes and patterns. This allows pieces with the same type of outer edge to have varied surface decorations on the inner part. The nail clips are applied by the crimping of the excess edges to the underside of the fingernail, with the added assistance of polymers to secure the metal to the underside of the nail. A final clear coat of fingernail polish is added to the top side of the nail to further secure the clip and to assist in maintaining a high shine finish to the surface of the fingernail and nail clip. Claims

Having described my invention, what I claim is:

1. An ornament comprised of a thin piece of precious metal sheet or ornamental type metal, that forms to the curvature of the fingernail, and is secured by the crimping of excess material which is held to the nail by pressure applied onto the underside of the nail, its application is further secured by the use of polymers.
