The outer cover or box lid consists of an upwardly dished disc 26 secured upon the upper edge of a rather wide depending cylindrical wall or skirt 2'7 which readily removably fits or telescopes over the outer wall 14 of the box body, thus forming an upper compartment above the imperforate inner cover 1'7, within which is disposed the upper inner perforated cover 19.

It will be noted that the outer bottom member llprojects peripherally beyond the outer upright wall 14, there to form a combined finishing and stop ledge 28. As a feature in the cosmetic box of my invention, a cardboard ring -or-;band' 29 removably surrounds the wall 14 abutting-relation with the ledge 28 and forms a spacer or stop against the upper edge of which the lower edge of the depending cover wall 2'7 of the outer cover abuts, as shown in Figures 1 and 3. This ring 29 is of the same width as the space between the upper edge of the outer body wall'14 and the upper edge of the outer cover wall 2'7.

It will be noted from Figure 3 that the cylindrical casing 24 of the lipstick is engaged substantially diametrically by the retainingdisc 19, while the larger rectangular bottle 22 of perfume is thus engaged somewhat below its middle plane. The cylindrical wall 2'7 of the box cover, when supplemented by the spacing ring 29, is of a width to rise sufficiently above the article-retaining disc 19 so as to accommodate the bottle 22 as well as the casing. 24 beneath the cover top disc 26. This disc 26 prevents the escape of the perfume bottle 22 and the lipstick container 24 from the cut-outs 20 and 21 in the retaining disc 19, the margins of this dished disc 26 being in engagement with the ends of the bottle 22, as will be evident from Figures 2 and 3taken together.

The operation, manner of use and advantages of the above described cosmetic box of my invention are as follows:

The salesman has only a single three-in-one package to keep track of and to handle in making sales. The removable spacer band or ring 29 is desirably of a distinctive color as compared with that of the adjacent wall 2'7 and ledge 28, or this ring 29 maybe otherwise set off, so as in any case to render it clearly noticeable. The customer can thus readily'identify the box by means of this ring and will know what the box should contain. Furthermore, when the customer opens the box, should the articles 22 and 24, or either of them, have been removed prior to her purchase, that they are missing will become immediately evident to her from the outlineopenings 20 and 21 in the disc 19, from which she will know that the box was intended to be sold containing not only face powder but also a small bottle of perfume and a lipstick. The disc 19 cannot be readily torn out without leaving indications of tampering.

When the articles contained in the box are to be used, the bottle of perfume 22 and the lipstick container 24 are taken out and set aside. The article-retaining disc 19 is then torn out and discarded. Also the spacer ring 29 is to be removed and discarded. The cosmetic box of, my invention is thus changed into simply a powder box, from which the face powder 18 may be used in the usual manner, following the removal of the lower imperforate rupturable inner covering 1'7. Now when the outer cover is replaced upon the box, the lower edge of its outer wall 2'7 will abut against the bottom ledge 28, while at the same time the margin of the top disc 26 immediately adjacent to the cover wall 2'7 will abut against the upper edge of the outer wall 14 of the box body. The sealing of the box in this way will preserve the face powder. 18 in good condition.

The modified cosmetic box construction shown in Figure 4 embodies all of the same substantially similarly co-operating parts and elements as above described with reference to the constructionshown in Figures 1', 2 and 3,with the exception that the spacing ring 29 has been omitted from this modified box, together with corresponding changes in the relative dimensions and relationship of some of the other parts. For clarity and brevity, the same reference numerals which appear'in Figures 1, 2 and 3 have been applied in Figure 4 to parts which are identical, while those parts which are not exactly the same as before have been designated by similar but distinguishing numerals.

With more particular reference to the modified cosmetic box shown in Figure 4, it will be noted that, in the original form of this box, the lower edge of the outer wall 2'7 of the cover abuts against the bottom ledge 28, while at the same time the margin of the top disc 26 abuts against the upper edge of the outer wall 14 of the box body. Space is now provided for the accommodation of the perfume bottle 22 and the lipstick container 25, by means of other changes in construction which compensate for the omission of the spacer ring 29.

The article-retaining disc 19, having through it the cut-out openings 20 and 21, forming an upper inner perforated cover within the upper compartment of the box, is relocated at a lower level in suitably spaced relation below the upper edge of the outer wall 14 of the box body. Also the relatively thin transparent lower imperforate rupturable inner covering 17, forming a closed lower compartment, is moved downward so as to be properly spaced below the perforated retaining disc 19. The retaining disc 19 is secured in place upon the upper edge of the intermediate wall 15A, while the downwardly flanged imperforate inner covering 1'7 issecured upon the upper edge portion of the inner wall 16A. These intermediate and inner walls 15A and 16A, as compared with the intermediate and inner walls 15 and 16 in the first described construction, are relatively nar rower than the outer wall 14 of the box body; In

either instance, of course, the box as a whole, as well as its several parts, may be of any dimensions desired, so long as the co-operating relation of the parts and elements are such as to carryout the idea and purposes of the invention in an effective and practical manner.

Taking into consideration that the spacer ring 29 has been omitted, it will be evident that the operation, manner of use and advantages of this modified box construction are the same in other respects as in the first described construction.

It is obvious thatvarious modifications may be made in the constructions shown in the drawing and above particularly described, within the principle and scope of my invention as defined in the appended claims. Also it is to be understood that I do not specifically limit myself as to materials, size, shape, or specific details, these-being given simply as a means for clearly describing the device of my invention. 1

What I claim is 1. In a cosmetic box, in combination, a box body, a freely removable cover for the box body telescoping thereover, an inner article-supporting closure for the box body beneath the top of its said cover, a stop ledge on the outside of the box body below its telescopic cover, a freely removable identifying spacing ring encircling the box body between its said stop ledge and the lower edge of its telescopic cover and spacing the top of the latter above the top edge of the box body, and a flat destructible tell-tale article holding member fixedly secured to the box body above its said inner article supporting closure and provided with an article-receiving opening so that thus the absence of such article or the destruction of said member together with the absence of said identifying ring will furnish evidence of tampering with the original assemblage.

2. In a cosmetic box, in combination, a box body, a freely removable cover for'the box body telescoping thereover, an inner article-supporting closure for the box body beneath the top of its said cover, a stop ledge on the outside of the box below its telescopic cover, and a freely-removable identifying spacing ring encircling the box body between its said stop ledge and the lower edge of its telescoping cover and spacing the top of the latter above the top edge of the box body so that thus the absence of saididentifying ring will 111-,

dicate the removal of an article which had been supported upon said inner closure.

3. In a cosmetic box, in combination, a box body, a freely removable cover for the box body having telescopic relation therewith, an inner article-supporting closure for the box body beneath the top of its said cover, and an outwardly exposed freely removable identifying spacing ring normally forming a stop for said cover and spacing the top of the latter above the top edge of the box body so that thus the absence of said identifying a ring will indicate that an article which had been supported upon said inner article-supporting closure has been removed.

4. A toilet preparation containing device having an upper compartment and a lower compartment, the lower compartment having a fixedly attached horizontally disposed frangible partition constituting the top of said compartment, a fixedly attached horizontally disposed perforated member positioned within and extending across the upper compartment above the aforesaid frangible partition and dividing the upper compartment into two containing parts and a cover for said container, said cover having a top portion and a peripheral side portion which constitute upper bounding walls for said upper compar'tment.

5. A toilet preparation containing device having an upper compartment and a lower compartment, the lower compartment havinga fixedly attached horizontally disposed frangible partition constituting the top of said compartment, a fix-- edly attached horizontally disposed perforated member positioned within and extending across the upper compartment above the aforesaid frangible partition and dividing the upper compartment into two containing parts and a cover for said container, said cover having a top portion and a peripheral side portion which constitute upper bounding walls for said upper compartment, and said cover being soconstructed as to prevent vertical movement of toilet preparation containers positioned within said perforations.

A toilet preparation containing device having an upper compartment and a lower compartment, the lower compartment having a fixedly attached horizontally disposed frangible partition constituting the top of said compartment, a fixedly attached horizontally disposed perforated member positioned Within and extending across the upper compartment above the aforesaid frangible partition and dividing the upper compartmentinto two containing parts, said perforated member being so constructed as to prevent lateral movement of toilet preparation containers positioned within said perforations, and a cover for said container, said cover having a top portion and a peripheral side portion which constitute upper bounding walls for said upper compartment.

A toilet preparation containing device having an upper compartment and a lower compartment, the lower compartment having a fixedly attached horizontally'disposed frangible partition constituting the top of said compartment, a fixedly attached horizontally disposed perforated member positioned within and extending across the upper compartment above the aforesaid frangible partition and dividing the upper compartment into two containing parts, said perforated member being so constructed asto prevent lateral movement of toilet preparation containers positioned within said perforations, anda cover for said container, said cover having a top portion and .a peripheral side portion which constitute upper bounding walls for said upper com partment and said cover being so constructed as to prevent vertical movement of toilet preparation containers positioned within said perforations.
