The present invention! contemplates in particular the. provision-of means for removably supporting the front: and end lights of theshow case at an inclination to: the: base thereof. Fixed to the fl'oor of the-showcase and atthe rear corner thereof is az pillar '40 pmv-id'ed with the portion 41 which is complementary to the threshold 18 in that it flts against the end of the threshold and projects toward the end of the show case for attachment to the end of the adjacent molding strip, as designated by the reference character 42. The pillar is provided with the inclined edge 43 which constitutes a seat for the rear edge of the end light 12 and is provided in its upper edge with a recess 44 of a depth sufficient to receive, and of a width sufficient to support, the rear edge. of the top light 14. A clip 45 is fixed to the top of the pillar 40 as by the bolt or the like 46 and engages the top light 14 and the end light 12 to hold these lights in engagement with their respective seats.

To divide the interior of the show case into a plurality of compartments, partitions 50 are provided, these partitions being'held'in position by suitable supports designated by the reference character 51. Arranged in each compartment is a sham such as illustrated in Figure 5 of the drawings and designated by the reference character 52.

Each sham is formed with a body portion having the top wall 53 which preferably terminates at its rear edge in an upwardly extending flange 54. The front wall 55 of the sham extends downwardly at an angle from the top 53 and is provided at its lower edge with a flange 56 adapted to rest against the inner side of the molding 17, as clearly illustrated in Figure 2 of the drawings. The side wall 5'? of the sham is inclined at an angle relative to the top 53 in the same manner as is the wall 55 and this side wall is provided at its lower edge with a flange 58' similar to the flange 56. The sham is preferably formed in sections, one of which is slotted, as designated by the reference character 59, the other section of the sham being provided with apertures 60 adapted to register with the slots 59 so that bolts 61 may be passed through the apertures and the aligned slots to secure the two sections of the sham to each other. A wing nut or the like 62 may be engaged with each bolt to clamp the sections of the sham against movement relative to each other. By forming the sham in adjustable sections as illustrated, the width of the sham may be adjusted to the width of the compartment in which the sham is to be positioned.

Adjacent its side, the sham is provided with a rearwardly extending projection 65 and adjustably connected to this projection is an extension '66, the latter being provided with the slots 67 and the former being provided with the apertures 68 which are similar to the slots and

59 and 60, frespectively. The extension 66 is provided on its end with the flange 69, the lower end ofthis flange being cutat an angle to conform to the angle of theflange 58.

The end of the extension 66 is positioned in a recess which is formed in the side face of the pillar 40.v This recess'is shaped to snugly receive the end of the extension, being provided with the inclined side '71 on which the inclined side wall of the projection seats. The recess is further provided with the shoulder portion '72 on which the top portion of the extension seats and is sufiiciently wide to receive the flange 69 of the extension. It will be obvious that the extension 66 may be adjusted relative to the body of the sham to a position where its end will engage the floor of the recess 70. Thus. the end of the extension will be firmly seated in the recess 70 so that the pillar 40-provides means for not only supporting the end and top lights but provides means also for positioning the sham 52 and for holding this sham in position.

The invention further contemplates the provision of handles by which the show case can be moved. Each handle is provided with a grip portion 81 adapted to normally lie in a recess 82 formed in the outer face of the molding 17. Each handle is also provided with the leg portions 83 which extend into bores formed in the molding and to'the ends of which nuts 84 are fixed. To provide for a limited movement of the handle, counterbores 85 are provided in the molding strip,

the nuts 84 being positioned in these counterbores.

Thus the normal position of the handle is as illustrated in Figure 4 of the drawings, with the grip portion thereof flush with the outer surface of the molding. When it is desired to move the show case, the handles may be grasped and moved to a position limited by engagement of the nuts with the bases of the counterbores, in which the grip portions of the handles will be spaced from the outer surface of the molding. Obviously, the handles will return to their normal inoperative position whenever they are released.

From the above it will be apparent that the :2

invention provides a show case in which the end and front lights are removably held in inclined position relative to the floor of the show case. Thusthe lights may be readily removed without the necessity of disassembling the structure which 1 provides the grooves for the lower edges of the lights. The lights of the show case will be supported in position without, however, necessitating the utilizing of a plurality of metallic clips which are visible from the front of the show case, and i the sham will be held in position'by a portion of the structurewhich supports the end and top lights of the show case.

While the invention has been described with some detail it is to be understood that the description is for the purpose of illustration only and is not definitive of the limits of the inventive idea. The right is reserved to make such changes in the details of construction and arrangement of parts as Will fall within the purview of the attached claims.

What I claim as my invention is:

1. In a show case construction, a pillar having a recess in its side, a sham having a body portion and a projection formed adjacent one side of said body portion, and a member adjustably connected to said projection and forming an extension of the same, said member havingan end portion engaged in said recess.

2. In a show case construction, a sham having an extension portion provided with an inclined side wall and a shoulder adjacent the upper end of said well, and a pillar having a recess shaped to receive the end of the extension portion of said sham.

3. In a show case construction, a base, a molding secured to said base, end and front lights mounted in said molding and inclined relative .to said base, a pillar projecting upwardly from said base in the angle between the adjacent edges of said end and front lights, said pillar having edge portions providing seats for the adjacent edges of said lights and having a horizontally extending arm fashioned with a recess in its upper edge, a pair of top lights having adjacent edges seating in said recess, and a clip fixed to said pillar and engaging said front, end and top lights to secure the same thereto.

4. In a show case, a base, means providing an upwardly openinggroove adjacent said base and arranged at an inclination to said base, a light having its lower edge disposed in said groove, and a spring strip disposed in said groove and having a return-bent portion disposed between the lower side of said groove adjacent the free edge thereof and the adjacent portion of the front light.

5. In a show case construction, a sham having top and side walls connected together, and a pillar forming a structural element of the show case and having a recess for receiving the ends of said top and side walls for holding said sham as a unit in position within the show case.

6. In a show case construction, a sham having top and side walls connected together, means providing an extension for said top and side walls, and a pillar forming a structural element of the show case and having a recess for receiving the said extension for holding said sham in position within the show case.

7. In a show case construction, an end light, a top light, a pillar having a side edge forming a seat for said end light and having a top edge forming a seat for said top light, said pillar also having a recess in one side thereof and a sham insertable as a unit into the show case and having an end portion engageable in the recess aforesaid in the pillar for positioning the sham as a unit relative to the interior of the show case.

8. In a show case construction, a top light, a sham insertable as a unit into the show case, and a pillar having a recess formed in its upper edge providing a seat for the toplight and having a second recess in its side for receiving an end portion of the sham to position the latter within the show case.

9. In a show case construction, a sham having a front wall and a side wall secured to the front wall to form a unitary construction insertable as a unit into the show case, and means including an upright of the show case structure for holding said sham in position within the show case.

10. In a show case construction, a sham having extensible front and side walls connected together to form a unitary construction insertable as a unit into the show case, and means forming a part of the show case structure for holding said sham in position within the show case.

11. In a show case construction, a sham having front, side and top walls connected together to form a unitary construction insertable into the show case as a unit, and a pillar forming a structural element of the show case cooperating with a portion of the sham to support the latter in position within the show case.
