(o1. 155-158) This, inventionrelates toa posture regulating' chair and more ;espe'cially,- to a chairhaving means for adjusting'the back portion to suit the height of the occupant for providingy an all around oice chair adapted to be adjusted to suit the individual requirements of the occupant, and is broadly classied as a posture regulating chair.
An object of my invention is to provide a chair in which the reclining or back portion can be regulated to suit therequirements 'of the -particular occupant of the chair. j
Another object of Vthe invention is to provide in a chair a lumbar Ysupport 'which can be adjusted verticallywith relation tothe seat ofthe chair and which can also be adjusted forwardly and rearwardly.
Some .of the objects of my invention having been stated other objects'will appear as the description proceeds, when taken in connectionwith lthe accompanying-drawing, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective View of my chair; Figure 2 is a top plan view of the back restj n Figure 3 is a side elevation of the structure looking at the left hand end of Figure2;
In Figuresv lfto 3 inclusive I show my chair having leg members 101, 102, 103 and 104 'which leg members have the braces 105, 106 and 107,
securing the same toeach othervand` the lower end of these leg portions have secured thereon the tubular members 108, which nt over the low-`v er portion of the legs of 101 to 104 inclusive.
Slidably and adjustably mounted within the tubular members108 are the other tubular mem- 4bers 112. n v
The members 101 to 104 inclusive have the cross-pieces 116 secured thereto on which is secured a seat portion 121. v The post members 102 and ,103 project up 4Q wardly at the rear of the` seat portion and the cross-piece 123 is secured'ther'eto and intermediate the seat portion andthey member 123, I`
secure a verticallyfadjustable member 125 having 5. a slot 126 therein with a bolt 127 piercing the "postmembers 102 and 103, with thethumb nut 128 thereon for purposes of vertically adjusting the members 125 with relation to the post members. The member 125 has a pin 125a which n slides in the vertically disposed slot 125D in each "of the posts 102 and 103 to preventr swinging movement of members 125. Pivotally secured to each of the members 125 is va member 130 which has an arcuateA slot 132 therein with a plurality of cavitiesv 133 in the upper edge there- V vof which are 'adapted to meshjwith a pin 134 to the 'members' 1,30 during adjustment.
`r'egulaten'the lposition of the members 130. The
pins 131 move in vertically disposed slots 136 in Y yThejrmembers 130..v have the pins y upper .end thereof with-v the upwardly projecting 'lug'141and to these pins 140 are pivotally secured-the members 142 rwhich are secured tothe backrest portion 143 which is padded as at 144. These members 142 have the overhanging lips 145 which project over the members 130 and fall within ythe path of the lugs 141 so as'to prevent the back rest portion 143 from falling too far forward and downward but'allowing the same vto be raised upwardly.
In the drawing and specication I Vhave setV forth a preferred embodiment of my invention,
' and' although specific-terms are employed, they are used ina generic and descriptive sense only,
and not forpurposes of limitation, the scope of 'the invention being set forth in the appended` claims. 1 y
