Description
March 25, 1930. L. J. VETTER 1,752,128
WATCH BRACELET Filed July 18, 1929 Patented Mar. 25, 1930 LOUIS J'. VE'I'TER, 0F ATTLEBORO, MASSACHUSETTS,
ASSIGNOR TO BLISS BROTHERS COMPANY, OF ATTLEIBORO, MASSACHUSETTS WATCH BRACELET Application filed J'u1y 18,
This invention relates to watch bracelets and more particularly relates to improved means for connecting the watch to the bracelet.
The primary object of the present invention is to provide simple and economical means for effectively connecting the watch to the bracelet, and further to provide a bracelet holder composed of hinged parts enabling the watch movement to be easily and quickly inserted therein prior to securement of the holder to the bracelet, and to still further provide attaching means for securing the holder to the bracelet, which means also functions to hold the hinged parts against hinging movement.
In the drawings Figure 1 is a top plan view of the invention;
Figure 2 is a rear side elevation; and
Figures 3 and 4 are sections on lines 33 and l4 respectively of Figure 1.
In proceeding in accordance with the present invention the bracelet is provided with a body 1 having an opening 2 therein which latter conforms in outline to that of the watch. WVhile in the present instance a circular opening is shown for a circular watch, nevertheless it will be understood that the shape of the opening may be varied as desired, and further that the body 1 may likewise be of any suitable shape or form, and ornamented as preferred.
The body 1 is provided with a ring 3 which latter may be secured thereto in any desired manner and while the ring is here shown as being integral with the body, it will be under stood that same may be made separate therefrom and soldered in position within the opening 2 as preferred. The holder for the watch movement is composed of a ring-like front 5 and a back 6, the two being hinged together by a hinge 7. The leaves of the hinge are provided with registering perforations to receive a screw 9 which latter is threaded into a threaded opening provided therefor in the adjacent lug a. The lugs 41- are diametrically opposed and the front 5 and back 6 of the watch holder are provided with ears 10 that are correspondingly diametrically op- 1829. Serial No. 379,149.
posed to the hinge leaves and which ears are perforated to receive a screw 11, the screw being threaded into a threaded opening provided therefor in the other lug 4:, the body 1 is further provided with a cutout 12 to re-:
ceive the winding stem shown at S in dotted lines.
A filling ring R is inserted in the holder about the watch movement so as to firmly retain the latter in position and to hold the winding stem in its proper relation to the cutout 12. As shown in Figure 1 the ring R ias a cutout 13 and the front 5 and. back 6 cutouts 1aenable the winding stem to be passed therethrough.
From the foregoing it will be seen that upon opening the front 5 and back 6, the watch movement can be easily placed in the holder, whereupon the latter is closed, and engaged through the ring 2 in the position shown in Figure 3. The screws 9 and 11 are then inserted through the openings of the hinge leaves and the ears 10 and are engaged in the threaded openings of the lugs 4. The screws therefore function to not onl secure the watch holder to the body 1 but also function to positively prevent hinging or opening movement of the parts 5 and 6.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. A watch bracelet including a body having an opening, a ring secured in the opening and having a pair of diametrically opposed lugs each provided with a screw threaded hole, a watch movement holder having a back and a ring-like front which latter is received in the ring of the body, a hinge connecting the back and front and having its leaves formed with perforations, a pair of perforated ears diametrically opposed to the hinge and carried respectively by the back and front, and screws extending through the perforations of the hinge leaves and through the perforations of the ears and into the respective threaded holes of the lugs for securing the holder against hinging movement and to the body.
2. A watch bracelet including a body having an opening, a ring secured in the opening and having a pair of diametrically opposed lugs each provided with a screw threaded hole, a Watch movement holder having a back and a ring-like front which latter is received in the ring of the body, diametrically opposed pairs of perforated members carried by the back and front, and screws extending through the perforations of the pairs of members and into the respective threaded holes of the lugs for securing the holder to the body.
8. A Watch bracelet including a body, having an opening, a Watch movement holder composed of a ring-like front received in said opening and a back hinged to the front, a
perforated lug carried by the back, a screw extending through the lug perforation and into a part of the body, and means to secure the hinge to the body.
4. A Watch bracelet including a body having an opening, a Watch movement holder composed of a ring-like front received in said opening and a back, said front and back having pairs of members provided With registering perforations, and screws extending through the perforations of said members and intothe body.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification.
LOUIS J. VETTER.
