My invention relates to medicament containers andvis particularly concerned with containers for medicaments which are administered hypodermically.
The object. of the invention is to provide an improved stoppered bottle from, which doses of the medicament may be withdrawn by a hypodermic syringe Whose needle is made .to pierce apliable plug. 1o Medicament containers of these general characteristics are old in the art, but, as before stated, I provide an improved construction the features of which will be pointed out as this'description proceeds.

The plug'8 of soft pliable material, such as soft rubber or composition, isdisposed in the upper end of the bottle neck, this plug being circular and of such diameter as to fit just snugly within the enlarged upper. end of the bottle neck as shown. Furthermore, this plug is of athickness e ual to the distance between the shoulder and the top of the bottle. The resultis that at no time is the plug under any more pressure'than that which is absolutely necessary-to keep it in its .place when the bottle is inverted.
The underside of the plug 8 is.hollowed out hemispherically as indicated at 9, in order to reduce the thickness of the central portion at 10 for a purpose which will be referredto resently. I
metal cap-11 is threaded onto the bottle neck, as indicated, a cork disc 12 being pro- .vided in the cap to be forced down upon the top of the bottle. In screwing home the cap 11, no pressure'is exerted upon plug 8, by reason of the arrangement and relative dimensions which have been referred to.
WVhen it is desired to charge a hypodermic syringe, the cap 11, with its disc 12, is unscrewed and removed, the needle of the hypodermic is made to pierce the central portion of the plug 8-, the container inverted, and the syringe plunger actuated. The syringe needle is then withdrawn and the aperture in the plug 8 is self closingl due to the nature of the material of which it is made.
By providing an arrangement in which the plug 8 is neither compressed nor relied upon normally to stopper the bottle, I am enabled to employ, for the plug 8, material best adapted for the purpose of closing the piercings and best from the standpoint of cleanliness. Furthermore, the arrangement whereby the top of the plug is flush and edge to edge with the top of the bottle neck contributes further to this essential cleanliness. In Figure 4, I show a modified form to act as a treated gauze strip container. In this case the lug 8 is pierced to permit of withdrawal o the gauze therethrough with tweezers.

In combination, a medicament container having a shoulder on the interior of the neck thereof, a plug disposed in said neck restin on said shoulder, the upper ends of the p ug and container being flush to promote cleanliness, said plu being of a pliable material which is sel -closing to punc- 'tures, and-a cap having a portion coacting with said flush upper ends to further tomote cleanliness, said portion exten nfi across andin contact with the said fll18 upper ends of said plug and said container, said cap having an attaching wall depend-- ing from said portion engaging the exte-v rior of the neck of the container.
