The present invention relates to improvements 1n sheet glass apparatus, and has moreparticular reference dto a novel draw vColburn Patent 1,248,809, granted'llee. Y 191,7, a' vsheet 10 is continuously drawn froni' to provi e a draw table for use inasheetw table and driving mechanism therefor.'-
An im ortant objectof the invention iS glass apparatus, so constructed that it will present a substantially unbroken surface upon which ythe sheet may be supported Another object of the'invention is to provide a draw table having associated therewith, means for positively driving the Same so thatA any danger of the draw table slipl5 ping will be reduced to a minimum.
Another object of the invention is to provide such an improved draw table embodying a plurality of substantially `solid portions extending the entire width of the draw 20 table, and a plurality of open portions alternately arranged, with the substantially solid portions.
Another object of the invention is to provide a draw table for use in, sheet lass apclosely associated links and a plurality of spaced links 'pivotally connected' with the closely associated links whereby to provide a sub stantially unbroken surface upon which the sheet of glam may be supported, said draw.
table vbeing driven by means of a sprocketor the likeengaging the spaced links.
Other objects and advantages of the 1nvention' will become more readily apparent during the course of the following description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings. y

being so constructed satisfactory as the that it is susceptible gap is for-medi between pe of draw table has upon the drawtable Being softthcV glass will have a tendency to sag within the gaps between the ends of adjacent links, thus creating surface irregularities in the sheet;
In'a'ddition to gaps, hot gases are against the sheet forming puii'ed places.'
:the tendencyto sag in the In Fig. l'the numeral 20 designates 'thel draw table in' itsentirety, and it is com posed of a plurality of interlocking links so constructed as to produce an endless belt ed within' the loop of the;
formation. Arran draw` table 2O an adapted to support the' permitted to lolowy up same in its upper horizontal run, are suitable draw table rails 2Lsupported upon beams 22. j
The draw table'20.- is adapted to he rotated b meansl of sprockets 23, mounted upon s afts 2d and keyed thereto by links 27 comprises-a body portion 29 pro` vided at its opposite ends with reduced apertured ears andl, said ears being disposed equi-distant from the opposite edges of the body to define shoulders 82, and these shoul ders are approximately one-half the width of the ears 30 and 31. The links 27'are adapted to abut against one another in order to present a substantially solid surface extending the entire Width of the draw table, and the adjacent ends of the links 28 are received within the spaces between'the ears 30 and 31. The links 28 are spaced from one another and each of said links consists simply of al fiat substantially rectangular bar having curved ends. The pivot pins 33 are passed through'sthe ears 30 and 31, and the adjacent apertured ends of the links 28. In driving the draw table, the teeth 34 of' the sprockets 23 Will be received b tween the spaced links 28 so that the dra table will be positively driven, and any danger of t e same slipping will be reduced to a minimum. As shown in Fig. 2, the sprockets 28 extend transversely the entire width of the draw table so that a uniform driving action will be imparted to the draw table throughout its entire Width.
In Fig. 5 has been shown a slightly modied form of construction wherein the closely associated links 35 are provided at their opposite ends With notches 86, which result in the formation of ears 37, said ears being in alignment with one another at one side of the longitudinal axis of the link. The
ladjacent ends of the spaced links 28 are adapted to be received Within the notches 36, and pivot ,pins 38, passing through the ears 37 and adjacent ends of the links 28, serve to pivotally connect the said links together.
In Fig. 6, a still further modified form of draw table has been shown, and in this form of the invention there are provided a plurality of transversely extending plates or bars 39 which are alternately arranged with the spaced links 28. Each of the bars 39 is provided along its longitudinal edges with spaced ears 40, and the adjacent endsorl the links 28 are received within thel spaces between these ears. Pivot pins 41, passing through the ears 40 and adjacent ends of the links 28, serve to pivotally connect the links together.
It will be thus seen` that in all three forms of the invention set forth above, there is rovided a draw table embodying a plural-v ity of substantially solid portions, and a plurality of open portions arranged alter- A roll 26 isused to contact v masses nately with the solid portions. The draw tables provided by the present invention will present a substantially unbroken surface upon Which the sheet may be supported without injury, and in addition thereto .1.
