JAMES P. HAINZIG-IANIS, OF lllllT` YORK, N. Y.
'roo'.rir.usa4 HOLDER.
applicati@ mea March 9, 1925. serial No. 14,292.
To all whom t may concern.'
Be it known that I, J AMES P. I-IAI'ZTGIA- the city of New York, borough of Manhattan, lin the county and State of New York, have invented anew and Improved Toothbrush Holder, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
This invention relates.I to tooth brush holders and has for an objectto provide an improved construction wherein a plurality of tooth brushes are suspended in a closed container. l
Another object in view is to provide `a tooth brush holder in which a closed container is provided for receiving a plurality of tooth brushes', the same being associated with means whereby the brushes may be elevated to a position above the container at any time. Y
A further 'Jbject, more specifically, is to provide a tooth brush holder wherein a container and a tooth brush support are provided and arranged so that the tooth brush holder and the brushes thereon rmay be protected when not in use and may be readily moved to a position exposing all of the brushes simultaneously.
In the accompanying drawing- Figurel is a perspective view of a tooth brush holder, disclosing an embodimentof` the invention. y
Figure 2 is a longitudinal vertical sec tional'lview through Figure 1, the same being on an-enlarged scale and with the tooth brush support in an' elevated position.
Figure 3xis an enlarged fragmentary sectional view through Figure 1, approximately on line 3 3.-
' acting as 'a container for surrounding and enclosing a'numberof tooth brushes 2. The container 1 is mounted on the bottom 3 which is preferably formed with a number' yof perforations 4 whereby the water may freely drain from thecontainer. The bottom 3 is preferably formed with an 'upsta'ndfl ing corrugated iiange 5 and is soldered orv otherwise rigidly secured to `a base 6. The base 6 is provided with a number of perforations 7 whereby air may freely circulate therethrough andthrough the notches 8 in the upper edge of the cup 9, which cup is 10 in any' desired manner, which sleeve is screwed onto the threaded lower end of the fbe a tendency of the water passing through the bottom 3 to move centrally of the cover. This will permit air to freely circulate through the outer apertures 4 and also through the outer apertures or openings in the cover 13. A cap 14 is provided for the upper end of the container 1, which cap preferably is made'of sheet metal and is formed with a depending corrugated ange 15 Aslidingly fitting over the upper end of the container 1. A number of perforations 16 are provided in the cap 14 whereby there may be a free circulation of air from the top ,to the bottom of the container Awithout permitting any appreciable amount of dust to enter the container.
In order to support the brushes 2 either within the container 1 vor above the same as shown in Figure-2, the tube 11 is provided with a vertical slot 17 having an offset 18 at the upper end. An annular shoulder 19 is provided at the upperendvof .the
tube l1 which shoulder may be integral or` parts are as shown in Figure 1, said pin bel ing adapted to be moved into the offset 18 when the parts are mbved to the position shown in Figure '2. A short sleeve 22l rigidly secured.y byl solder or other suitable means to the tube 20, said sleeve havmg a number of notches 23 merging into slits 24. Where these notches and slits are provided, solder may be dispensed with and th1s por tion of the sleeve contracted so that pinching members will be provided Wlnch wlll grip the tube 20 and hold sleeve 22 1n lace.
'A ldisk 25.is rotatably mounted on tu e 20 rabove the sleeve y22. A number of pins or hooks 26 are riveted to the disk 25 and extend an appreciable distance therefrom w1th ,their outer ends vcurved upwardly somewhat whereby they may readily proJect through holes in' the respective tooth brushes 2. t will be evident that any desired number of .connected to an internally threaded sleeve hooks or pins 26 maybe provided within certain limits so that the device-may be used .by a number of persons .and yet each person may have anim-dependent tooth brush.- The extreme upper end of the tube-20 is internally threaded for receiving the screw 27 which acts to clamp the cap 14 rigidly inplace and also acts as a yknob whereb. the c ap lftmay be raised on lowered as desired.V JAl'so, preferably thecontainer 1 is heldon the bottom 3 by a number of rods 28 which are formed with hooks 29 at the upper end and whichv extend -through the bottom 3.l They lower ends `ot each of the rods 26 are supplied with a stop or `block 30 held in place by suitable `115l set screws 31 whereby thefvarious'rods 28 are locked inplace and, consequently, lock i `firmly .the container 1 inY operative position. Preferably, part. of the'rods 28 fit into cer'- --tain of thecorrugations of flange 5 and, consequently, are held against tilting.A
In operation, when the parts arein the position shown in Figure 2, 'brushes may be 4freely placed on the hooks 26 or removed therefrom. When the brushes 'are 'notlinf use, the enlarged upper end of the screw4 v27 'is grasped and' rotated whereupon kthe tube 20 will be rotated, so that pin 21 will move out of the. notch or oliset 18 into the slot 17. The parts including the tooth parts assume the position shown in Figure v. 1.' When'inF this position,y the brushes are protected against o dust ',whiler La certain amount of air circulation is rovided and also means have been provide 'ting drainage. :The cup 9 acts .td receive fthe water drainage from the container `1.
This cup maybe emptied from time to time as desired'.
