Be it known that I, lEDWARD P. Smmrox, a citizen of the United States, residing at Knoxville, in the county of Knox, State of Tennessee, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combination Mailing Forms, of which the following is a description, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the figures of reference marked thereonj.

This invention relates to paper blanks, such as letters and cards adapted to receive writing or printed indicia for mailing purposes, and with particular reference to mailing cards especially adapted for advertising purposes and the like.

One of the objects of this invention is to provide a paper blank adapted to receive indicia such as a letter or mailing card which combines all the features of the present type of letter or lcard and the advertising advantages of an envelope stulier, pamphlet, booklet, leaflet or return postal card or coupon.

Still another object of this invention resides in providing a mailing card with a distinctive portion of desired shape or color, which distinctive portion is .formed with an extension integral with the body of the card, the extension folding` along the edge of the card and into the body of the card whereby to form a folder corresponding in shape and distinctive appearance with the distinctive portion sothat the mailing card tppears to carry a separate booklet or .leaf- Still another object of this invention resides in providing the above construction with an additional extension `folding along the edge of the card into the folder or leaflet and adapted to be used as a return mailing` card.

Preferably this extension 5 folds along' the edge line 6 the card so as to form a lealiet or folder. The portion l is given different distinctive appearances by being tinted, or by different color, or is isolated from the main body of thecard 1 by ruled lines or by spaces, orin fact, in any manner. `So also this distinctive portion 4 may assume any shape, this latter being particularly desirable where the advertisement pertains to the shape of any commodity, such as a bottle of liquor to be advertised, a phonograph or what not. 4 and 5 are adapted for any type of advertising purpose, and to this end, may be printed, lithographed, colored, and may contain indicia or any matter desired. The reverse side of the extension 5 kmay also be correspondingly used stead of using a separate number of leaves,

In case it beI desired to incorporate a return post-card, with the card 1, the body ofthe card 1 is provided with an integral or same-piece extension of suitable size and shape for this purpose. Preferably, the lower left-hand or isolated portion of the card is provided with the integral extension 9 foldable along the bottom marginal line 10 of the card. This extension 9 is preferably of size and shape to fold backwardly into the distinctive or isolated portion 4 of the card so as to be covered and held in position when the extension 5 is also folded into the body of the card. And the two extensions 5 and 9 are in turn held in overlapping'` position between the main folds of the blank formed by the fold line 2. This extension 9 is provided with suitable matter as in the case of ordinary return post cards or coupons. From the foregoing description it is manifestA that this isolated stuii'er, and return card and coupon. One of the main advantages being that the booklet, catalogue, or price list carried by the post card will not become detached or lost when it is read b thereceiver.

Obviously, many variations of the embodiment illustrated are within the contemplation of the invention, and it is not desired to restrict the invention to the precise form illustrated or described, except in so far as it is limited by the scope of the appended claims.A

Having thus described the invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters-Patent, is-

1. A single paper blank having suitable indicia on one face thereof and adapted to be folded to a more compact size for mailing, one face of said blank having an isolated indicia bearing portion lying between a fold line and the marginal line of the blank, said isolated portion integrally supporting a plurality of flaps or extensions adapted to fold one upon the other within the marginal line of said isolated portion of said blank and provided with desired indicia.

2. An article of manufacture comprising an integral paper blank adapted to be folded to more compact size suitable for mailing and adapted to receive indicia on one face thereof, said blank having on such face an isolated yindicia-bearing portion and said blank being cut and arranged to provide two flaps foldable the one upon the other substantially into the isolated portion of said blank and provided with desired indicia.

3. A device of the class described comprising a single paper blank foldable to provide a more compact mailing form, said blank having an integral extension of less length than and foldable along one edge line of the blank into the limits thereof to provide a folder, and a second integral extension of less length than and foldable along another edge line of the blank and into overlapping contact with said firstmentioned inwardly folded extension.

4. A mailing device comprising a single paper blank foldable to smaller size for mailing, and adapted to receive indicia on one face thereof, said face having an isolated indicia-bearing portion lying between a fold line and the margin of said blank, said isolated portion having extensions or ila-ps of less length than and projecting beyond each of the two marginal lines of the blank and foldable on said marginal lines into the isolated portion.
