JOHN AfSTREET AND EDVTARD F. i/VANTLAND, OF LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA.
DOLL.
Application filed February 9, 1921. Serial No. 443,599.
To @ZZ whom t may concern Be it known that vv JOHN A. STREET and EDWARD l?. ANTLAND, citizens ci the United States, and residents of Los Angeles7 in the county of Los Angeles and State of California, have invented new and useful improvements in a Doll, of which the folloivirpv is a specification.
This invention relates to doll or manikin having` novel means to hold a picture or like object.
lt is the primary object of this invention to provide a doll having at 'the heart spot means to mount a picture, miniature, or keepsake, whereby an ornamental article may be provided which appeals to the sentiments.
These objects together with other objects and corresponding accomplishments are obinvention illustrated in the accompanying drawing'7 in which:
Fig. l is a facie vievv ot doll embodying our invention; and F 2 is an enlarged fragmentary section as seen on the line 2--2 of Fig. l.
Referring more particularly to the drawing, 3 indicates a doll. This doll may be constructed from any one ot 'the ivell known materials used in the manufacture of such articles, the particular form ci' the doll or the expression of the face is not material to the invention. The doll may be a. male or female depending upon the nature of the picture to be mounted thereon and the sex ot the possessor. However, on orV in the tained by means of the embodiment of our chest of the doll at the heart spot means is provided for mounting' a picture, this being an essential part of the invention.
As shown herein, a case l is embedded in 40 the body and is provided with a. hinged cover The case and cover are in the nature of a locket suitable for mounting a picture 6 therein. The case and cover are preferably of heart shape to further emphasize the sentimental appeal. If desired, the cover and case may be arranged so that the cover can be locked in its closed position.
The use of the doll is obvious. For illustration7 a. yound lady may have a female 50 doll and mounted in the case a picture of her sweetheart.
`We do not limit ourselves to the specific form of the mountingfor the picture or the shape oi the mounting. lt may be found preferable in some instances to have no independent cover on the doll for concealing the picture. In such cases the usual doll clothing may serve that purpose.
lVhat We claim is:
l. An article of manufacture comprisinp a dolls body having at the heart spot a heart shaped mounting,- for a picture.
2. An article of manufacture comprising a dolls body having at the heart spot a heart shaped casing` provided with a cover 'for mounting a picture therein.
In Witness that We claim the foreg have hereunto subscribed our naday of February, 1921.
lill-lil A. STREET,
EDWARD F. VVANTLAND.
