UNITED =1 FFICEr IMPROVEMENT IN METALLIC LATHING.'
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 141,94E5, dated August 19, 1873; application filed May 5, 1873.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, TIMOTHY QGALLAHAN, of Boston, in the county of Suffolk and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and Improved Fire=Proof Lathing, of which the following is a specification:
In the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 represents a vertical section of my improved metal lathing as applied to a dwelling or store. Fig. 2 is a detail plan view of the same; and Fig, 3, a vertical longitudinal section on the line a c, Fig. 2.
Similar letters of reference indicate correspondin g parts.
The object of my invention is to furnish an improved metallic sheathing for the inner walls of buildings; and the same consists in a new article of manufacture in'the form of metallic sheets with projections, adapted for ornamental ceilings or walls, to be painted or plastered, as desired.
In the drawing, A represents the ceiling and side wall of a building covered by sheets B of cheap metal, having stamped, cast, or
' otherwise connected toits face dovetail-shaped studs a. The studs a are in the shape of truncated pyramids, with face recesses for 'ering without plaster;
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters 1 Patent, is
As a new article of manufacture, a metallic sheet or plate for covering ceilings, the same being provided with projections or studs a,
cast or formed with it, as shown and described.
