Geo r36 Peterson I INVENTOR ATTORNEY UNITED E liot sn'r orrlcs.
CLAMP.
Leifilfi il.
Application filed June 22, 1920.
1 '0 I/J'Z whom it may concern.
Be it known that l Gnonon Pn'rnnsmv, a citizen of the United States, residing at tlpolrane, in the county of Spokane and State of Washington have invented new and usetul lniprovenuznts in lamgs of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a clamp for clamping tubular and cylindrical bodies together, the principal object of the invention. being to provide a split ring member with means tor locking the ends in over lapping relation.
This invention also consists in certain other features-of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the sev oral parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claim.
in describing my invention in detail, ref-- erence will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the sevoral views, and in which Fi ure 1 Is a view oi the improved clamp,
Figure 2 a cross section taken through the center oi" the device.
l iguro is a view oi a modification.
As shown in these views the device s made in the form of a split ring 1 and has a tongue 2 formed on one end and an opening 2% and slit 4 formed adjacent the other end. The metal betv-ieen the opening and slit is tor-cod outwardly to form interior recess to receive a portion of the tongue. The tongue is passed through the slit and the recess into the opening 8 and is then bent over to grip the outer wall of the forced out portion of the ring:

it will thus be seen that the device when placed over the overlapping ends of two hose and its nozzle, it will firmly lock'the twomemberstogether. It will be seen that the device can be easily and quickly placed in position and can be just as easily removed.
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features or? my invention will be readily apparent.
In the modification shown in Figure 3 the clamp is provided with the two tongues and is of larger dimensions than the clamp first described and is. intended for use on high pressure hose. This clamp may be used tor mending hose as by applying the clamp snugly over the leak the internal pressure tubular members. such, for instance, as a in the hose will force the same against the clamp and prevent leaking at this point.
I desire it to be understood that I may make changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes :tall within the scope of the appended claim.
lihat I claim is device of the class described compris inn; a split ring, a tongue on one end and a rectangular opening adjacent the other end, this other end having a slit therein between its extremity and the opening with the metal between the slit and opening forced outwardly to form an interior recess :tor receiving a portion of the tongue, said tongue being adapted to he passed through the slit and opening and then bent to form a hook to engage the end wall of the opening.
in testimony whereof I aiiix my signature.
GEORGE PETERSON.
