Description

S. BEHGMAN.
CARTON FOR CUPS AND SIMILAR ARTICLES.
APPLICATION FILED JULY I0, I919.
Patented July 13, 1920. a o i ATTORNEY I street,
a suitable carton which may be used SIMON .BERGMAN, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
CARTON FOR CUPS AND SIMILAR ARTICLES.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SIMON BERGMAN, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city, county, and State of New York, (whose ost-oflice address is 37 East 18th ew York city,)' have invented a new and useful Improvement in Cartons for Cups and Similar Articles, of which the following a specification.
The object of my invention is to fprovide or storage pur oses or as a delivery device, as desired. invention, one embodiment of which is hereinafter more particularly set forth.-'
' For a more particularidescription of my invention, reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part here'- of in which Figure 1 is a sectional view of my improved carton when serving as a delivery device.
-Fig.-2 is asectional an les to Fig. 1.
ig. 3 is a perspective View of a 'carton embodying my invention. 7
Throughout the various views of the drawings, similar reference characters, designate similar parts. I v
. My improved carton 1 is provided with the usual sides 2 and end flaps 3 and 4:, all of which may be of the conventional kind, except; for certain modifications which will be pointed out below. A perforatedtab 5 is view, taken at right also made integral or secured to a side 2 so -jthat the carton-may besuspen'ded from a vention, the ton covered by a sultable paster 12 whlch W111 prevent its removal from the 'slots 7.
' nail or other device; if desir Elle lower side flaps 4 are bent upwardly and inwardly and upwardly and outwardly, and are reduced in width to form tongues other and areadapted to support the rim 10 of a cup or other vessel 11 when the devlce "isinuse.

upper flaps 3 and 4 are open, and then the-- on a nail or other device, and the lower flap 3 is allowed to openva nd hang down, and
then the bottom cup'will rest on the tab 8,
and support the other cups above it. When a vperson wlshes to remove a cup, he grasps the bottom cup 11 and pulls the same downs wardly, and that forces the flaps 4 toward their adjacent sides 2, and the bottom cup passes to the flaps 9 where it may rest or be drawn by a removal from the container 1.
r If, through some inadvertencel, the removal of the bottom cup 11, from the tabs 9'should release the next higher cup from the tab 8, it will be caught by the tabs 9 and the stack above the bottom cup will be caught by the tabs 8, so that under no circumstances can the stack of cups fall from the container when the bottom cup is removed, and this is true although the's'tack may have a number of cups, say one hundred or whatever the carton contains.
While I have shown and described one embodiment of my invention, it is obvious that it is not restricted thereto, but is broad .enough to cover all structures that come within the scope of the annexed claims.
Having thus described my invention, what Iclaimis: Y f
