IMPROVEMENT IN SEAMS FOR LEATHER.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 133,897, dated December 10, 1872.

Be it known that I, ELIJAH SHAW, of Milwankee, in the county of Milwaukeeand in the State of Wisconsin, have invented certain Improvements in Seams in Leather, of which the following is aspecilication:
Nature and Object of the Invention;
My invention is alap seam for uniting leather, composed oftwo parallel seams i11- closing a flexible ridging-cord, which, for the leg of a boot, is betterthan the ordinary closed seams, and will not chafe the leg, nor will it interfere with the cramping.
Description of the Drawing.
Figure 1 is a lap-seam as sewed inleather for any purpose, and Fig. 2 is a sectional View.
General Description.
A are the two pieces of leather sewed together ;B, the seams sewed in theleather O, the cord.
Claim.
I claim as my invention A lap-seam for uniting leather composed of two parallel seams, B, inclosing a flexible cord, 0, uniting two pieces of leather, A, substantially as described.
