Specication forming part of Letters Patent No. 133,@17, dated December 10, 1872.
To all whom 'it may concern:
Be it known that I, JAMES H. WILSON, of Brentwood, in the county of Williamson and State of Tennessee, have invented a new and Improved Bridle, of which the following is a specification The invention consists in arranging a sin gle strap in connection with a bridle-rein and pair of buckles so that a pull upon said rein will draw the bit upward in the mouth of the horse.
Figure 1 is a perspective View of the bridle as it is arranged on the head of the horse. Fig. 2 is a plan View.
A represents the loop which passes around the neck, the two parts meeting together at the top of the head, behind the ears, and turning down between them at B,passing through the buckle C; thence down the face at D, one upon the other, `to the buckle E, from which the parts F separate and pass down each cheek to a loop or ring, H, in the bit, and thence extend,in the manner of the reins, over the back of the neck, where they join together.
To adjust it, to apply, or remove it, the buckle or loop C is simply slipped up or down on the strap.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- A single strap, A B D, having the branches F F passing through rings of the bit and attached to rein I I, as described, so as to ena ble the bridle to be operated in the manner and for the purpose set forth.
