IMPROVEMENT IN IRON STRUCTURES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No.132,260, dated October 15, 1872.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOSEPH M. DUoLos, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in -Iron Buildings, of which the following is a specification Figure lis an interior elevation, Fig. 2 an exterior elevation,Fig. 3 a horizontal section, and Fig. 4 a vertical transverse section, of my invention.
Similar of reference letters indicate correof such structures on both sides with panels,
ornaments, or otherwise, and in thereby mal;- in g-the inner backing up, by means of plaster or other devices, entirely unnecessary. The cost of putting up iron buildings is thus greatly reduced.
A in the drawing represents part of the wall of an iron building. This wall is a cast-iron plate faced and paneled on both sides, or other- Wise ornamented or prepared on both sides to present finished surfaces. The plate Ais made to overlap the faces of the cast or Wrought iron columns or posts B B, which are recessed at the corners to receive the plates, as shown in Fig. 3. Angle-irons C C are placed against the posts and plates A in the manner shown in Fig. 3, and are secured thereto by bolts or rivets a a to constitute reliable connections and conceal the joint between A and B.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The cast-iron building-plate A nished or paneled on both sides, substantially as and for the purpose herein shown and described.
