To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, JOHN PASTERNAK, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at New York city, county and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Toy Balloons, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

This invention relates to improvements in toy balloons, the object being to provide a toy of this nature consisting of a plurality of inflatable bags or sacks, one within the other, the inner sack or bag being the larger, suitable means for permitting inflation of the bags or sacks being employed. One of the objects of my invention is to provide a balloon or a combination of sacks or bags arranged so that the outer sack may have applied to its surface a legend or'the like and the inner sack a diiferentiating legend or the like, suitable means being employed to inflate the inner bag and thereby expand the outer bag until it bursts, whereby the legend on the outer bag will disappear and the legend on the inner bag will come into view. For example, the article could be used for New Years celebration, in which event the outer bag would have applied thereto the designation of the ending year (1918, for instance) and the inner bag the incoming year (which in this event would. be 1919). Other differentiating designations or illustrations could be of course employed.

I will now describe in detail the arrangement by means of-which I accomplish the above results, the accompanying drawing illustrating an embodiment of my invention, wherein v Figure 1 illustrates a plurality of inflatable bags or sacks, in deflated condition, one within the other, the outer bag being in section, and

Fig. 2 is a fragmentary sectional view illustrating the outer bag as expanded by the partly inflated inner bag.

To carry out my invention I provide a plurality of sacks or bags 3 and 4, connected or secured, at the neck portions 5 and 6 thereof, to a tube or mouth piece 7 containing a valve 8. As this form of mouth ieoe is well known, the valve therefor has een illustrated in dotted lines. As is evident from an inspection of Fig. 1, the inner sack or bag 4 is larger than the outer sack or bag 3; hence said outer bag may be expanded and burst before the inner bag or sack is inflated to its full extent. It will be also evident that the outer bag is expanded by inflating the inner bag and not by air which is forced directly therein. As said inner bag does not communicate with the air-passage of the mouth piece, it cannot be expanded. excepting by inflating the inner bag.

When used for New Year celebration, the outer bag may contain (for instance) the numeral 1918 and the inner bag 1919. The numeral 1918 will remain in now until the outer bag is expanded until it bursts, after which the inner bag may be inflated to its full extent, revealing the numeral 1919. This action would, and is intended to indicate, the passing away of 1918 and the entrance of 1919. These numerals are selected for illustration only, as any other numerals, such as 1920, 1921 etc., could be used. If desirable other differentiating designations, characters, or illustrations could be used, such as for instance as the picture of a political oflicer about to leave oflice and the picture of the newly elected candidate.

To insure the burstin of the outer frangible bag or sack by the inflation of the inner bag or sack, the wall of said outer sack is made considerably thinner than the inner sack. This arrangement precludes the bursting of the inner sack before the outer or frangible sack is broken.

Having now described my invention, what I claim is 1. The combination of a plurality of expansible bags or sacks one within the other, the inner bag or sack being adapted for greater expansion than the outer sack, the outer bag or sack being frangible.

2. The combination of a plurality of expansible bags or sacks one within the other, the wall or body of the outer sack being frangible and thinner than the wall of the inner sack.

3. The combination of an ex ansible frangible bag or sack, and in atable means within said bag or sack arranged to burst same when inflated.
