Description

0. H. LAGOIS.
ARTICLE CARRIER. APPLICATION nuzo MAR. 2. l9l8.
1,2&Q,878m Patented Oct. 29, 1918.
arena err orro H. LeeoIs, or JERSEY our, NEW JERSEY.
ARTICLE-CARRIER.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, OTTO H. LAeoIs, a eitizen ofthe United States, residing at Jersey City, in the county of Hudson andState of New J ersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Article- Carriers, of
which the following is a specification, reference being hadto the accompanylng drawings.
This invention relates to certain improvements in article carriers and has relation more particularly to a de'v'ce of this general character, of abody attached typeand it is an object of the invention to provide a novel and improved carrier of this general character provided with means adapted to encircle a limb and preferably a nether limb whereby the carrier may be concealed.
'A further object of the invention is to provide a device of this general character which is adapted to be secured to the limb of a person and which includes novel and improved means whereby the device may be efiectively supported to support an article of clothing, such as hose.
The invention consists in the details of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts of my improved article carrier whereby certain 1mportant advantages are attained and the device is rendered simpler, less expensive and otherwise more convenient and advantageous for use, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth. 7
The novel features of my invention will hereinafter be definitely claimed.
In order that my invention may be the better understood, I will now proceed to describe the same with reference to the accompanying drawings, wherein:
Figure 1 is a view in elevation of an article carrier constructed in accordance with an embodiment of my invention with the flap in closed position; and
Fig. 2 is an elevational view of my improved container, with certain of the parts in fragment and with the flap in open position.
As disclosed in the accompanying drawings 1 denotes a pad of predetermined dimensions and of any desired material which is provided along one margin with a flap 2 adapted to overlie a lamination 3 superimposed upon the pad 1 and secured thereto along certain of its marginal portions. marginal portion of the lamination 3 over fromthe lamination 3; The ends v. Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented (lot. 29, 1918. 19 1s. serial No. 220,095.
which the flap 2 extends is free of the pad 1 whereby it will be self-evident that a container'is provided in which various articles maybe readily placed and preferably articles of value such as money, jewelry or the like. The flap 2 and the lamination 3 are provided with separable fastening members wherebythe flap may be efi'ectively held in a closed position or in a position overlying the lamination '3 and as herein embodied the separable fastening member embodies a socket 5 carried by the flap 2 engageable with a resilienthead 6 extending outwardly of the pad 1 and lamination 3 adjacent the flap 2 are arranged on inwardly directed inclines 0r angles 7 and secured between the inclined or angular portions 7 of the pad 1 and lamination 3 at one end thereof is an end portion of a limb encircling member 8 herein disclosed as an elastic web 9. Engaged in a conventional manner with the opposite end portion of the web 9 is a loop 10 engageable with a head stud 11 carried by the plate 12. The plate 12 is engaged with a tab 14 suit ably secured between the inclined or angular portions 7 at the opposite ends of the pad 1 and superimposed lamination 3. Byhaving the limb encircling member 8 eoacting with the inclined or angular portion 7, the pad 1 is caused to contact with the limb in a convenient manner and the strain imposed upon the pad 1 incident to the strain imposed thereupon by the contraction of the limb encircling member 8 in no way ai'feets the flap he maintenance of the flap 2 in closed position entirely depends upon the coacting separable fastening members. Secured between the lower corners of the pad 1 and lamination 3 are the garment engaging members 15 of any preferred type and which are particularly adapted to be connected with a stocking when applied so that my improved device serves as a support for the stocking and the engagement with the stocking assures the carrier to lie substantially in contact with the limb. In order to assure the pad 1 snugly engaging the limb it has been found of importance to have the longitudinal axes of the members 15 arranged in divergence in a direction away from the pad 1 and which arrangement is clearly illustrated in Fig. l of the accompanying drawmgs.
From the foregoing description, it is thought to be obvious that an article carrier constructed in accordance with my invention is particularly well adapted for use by reason oi? the convenience and facility with which it may be assembled and operated and it will also be obvious that my invention is susceptible of some change and modification without departing from the principles and spirit thereof and for this reason I do not wish to be understood as limiting myself to the precise arrangement and formation of the several parts herein shown in carrying out my invention in practice except as hereinai'ter claimed.
I. claim:
As a new article of manufacture, an elongated article carrier having its upper marginal portion at the opposite ends of the carrier inwardly inclined toward the top of the carrier, the portion of the carrier between theinclined portions being open, a closing flap coacting with the open portion of the carrier and positioned between the inclined portions, a limb encircling member secured at one end to an inclined portion of the carrier, a fastening member carried by the second inclined portion of the carrier and with which the limb encircling member engages, andseparate hose engaging members carried by the lower'marginal portion of the carrier at opposite ends thereof, the longitudinal axeso'f the hose engaging members being arranged in divergence in a direction away from the carrier. c i
In testimony whereof I hereunto aiiix my signature in the presence of two Witnesses.
OTTO H. LAGOIS.
