APPLICATION FILED APR. 24. ma.

Gum M BESSIE M. ALLEN, OF KINGSTON, NEW YORK.
GARMENT-HAN GER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented July 16, 1918.
Application filed April 24, 1918. Serial No. 230,529.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I BESSIE M. ALLEN, a citizen of the United States, residinv at Kingston, in the county of Ulster and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Garment -Hangers, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in garment hangers and the principal object of the invention is to provide a simple device that will support a number of different articles.
The device is more particularly adapted to be used in connection with theater chairs though of course I do not wish to be limited in this respect.
Another object of the invention is to provide a device of this character which is simple and durable in construction, reliable and efficient in operation and one which can be manufactured and placed upon the market at a minimum cost.
The invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claim.
In describing my invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which Figure 1 shows the device in use on a theater chair.
Fig. 2 is a perspective View of the device itself.
As shown in these views the device is made of wire and comprises amain member 1 having a loop 2 formed at one end and adapted to support an umbrella. A supporting loop 3 of curved shape extends upwardly from the member 1 and is adapted to be placed over a supporting bracket so that the device may be suspended therefrom. A second loop 4 also of U-shape cooperates with the loop 3 to form a clamp which is adapted to support a hat. 5 represents the coat supporting part which is formed of the substantially U-shaped member 5' connected with the member 1 by means of the downwardly extending end pieces 6. If desired the coat supporting part may be formed from a continuation of the member 1 bent and curved as shown and having its extreme end forming the left hand iece 6 and connected with the member 1. uitable coils may be formed in the coat supporting part to form springs to make this part grip the coat between itself and the member 1.
When the device is placed on the back of a theater chair the umbrella support 2 will be located in the space between the backs of two chairs so that the umbrella will be supported in a position close against the backs and thus be out of the way of a person passing between the rows of seats.
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of my invention will be readily apparent.
I desire it to be understood that I may' make such changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claim.
What I claim is A device of the class described comprising a main member having a circular loop formed at one end thereof, a pair of U- shaped loops projecting upwardly from said member and forming a clamp, and a looped part connected with said member and forming a coat supporting portion.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
Mas. BESSIE M. ALLEN.
