FOLDING QHIBQ BAG I T E- Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented June 19, 1917.
Application filed June 13, 1916. Serial No. 103,424.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LOUIS P. MONTANEY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Omak, in the county of Okanogan and State of Vashington, have invented certain useful Improvements in Folding Chiropractic Tables, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
This invention relates to improvements in folding chiropractic or osteopathic tables, one object of the invention being the provision of a table of this character in which the cushions for supporting the body are longitudinally adjustable to various sizes of persons and for placement under the desired part of the anatomy during the manipulation.
A further object of this invention is the provision of a table or couch of this character which is easily set up for use and which is provided with adjustable supporting pads for the breast, sternum, and hips or legs when in a reclining position, and with a foot rest to stand upon when in an upright position.
In the accompanying drawingse.-
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the complete table in reclining position, a portion being dotted to show the table erect.
Fig. 2 is a side elevation thereof showing the stomach pad adjusted vertically.
Fig. 3 is a longitudinal section through the complete table.
Fig. at is a central cross sectional view.
Fig. 5 is a detailed View thereof.
Referring to the drawings, the numeral 5 designates the base frame of the present table, which has connected thereto and projecting therefromthe two standards 6, Whose upper ends are hingedly secured to the main frame 7 of the table or couch.
Also adapted to support the frame 7 are the folding legs 8 which with the standards 6 cooperate with the couch or table in holding the position as shown in Fig. 1.
Mounted for sliding movement upon the frame 11 is a breast pad 9, while carried thereby is the open head or face rest 10.
Secured firmly to the lower end of the frame 7 is a foot rest 11 which projects beyond the upper edge of the frame 7 so as to receive the feet of the patient when the frame 7 is in an upright position.
The hip or leg pad 12 is slidably mounted upon the frame 7, while carried by the adjust-able sternum pad 13 and depending from the frame 7 intermediate of its ends are the two auxiliary frames 14, While depending from the pad 12 are rack bars 15, a shaft 16 being carried by the frames 14; and having gears 17 which cooperate with the rack bars 1%, so that when the crank 18 is rotated to operate the shaft 16, the pad 13 is elevated above the frame 7.
Then using the present device, the same is tilted, as shown in dotted lines, Fig. 1, so that the foot rest 11 is upon the floor.
The patient to be operated upon with the face toward the frame 7, stands uponthe foot rest 11, and then the respective pads 9, 11, 12 and 13 are adjusted by the doctor.
WVhen this adjustment has been made, the table is tilted to a reclining position with the patient thereon.
By .making the sternum support 13 adjustable, the same may be moved into and out of contact with the sternum of the patient, according to the desires of the doctor.
By providing the open head or face rest 10, the face of the patient may be supported therein in a comfortable position, and so such patient can breathe freely during the manipulation.
What I claim as new is 1. A table structure of the character described comprising a rectangular shaped. base frame having vertical standards near one end thereof, a rectangular shaped superframe of considerably greater size than the base frame hinged upon the standards and disposed in normal horizontal position, a plurality of pads on the superframe, means for raising and lowering one of said pads,
slidable connections between certain of the other pads and the superframe, swinging legs pivoted upon the connections of one of the other pads with the superframe, and means for locking the slidably connected pads in adjusted positions.
2. A table structure of the character described comprising a rectangular shaped base frame having vertical standards near one end thereof, a rectangular shaped super "frame of considerably greater size than the legs pivoted upon the connections of one of base frame hinged upon the standards and said other pads With the superfranie, means disposed in normal horizontal position, a for locking the slidably connected pads in 1Q plurality of pads on the superframe, means adjusted position, and a yoke shaped rest for raising and lowering one of said pads, on one of the outermost pads.
slidable connections between certain of the In testimony whereof I aflix my signature. other pads and the superframe, swinging LOUIS P, MONTANEY.
