NON-REFILLABLE BOTTLE.

To all whom z'tmay concern:
Be it known that I, EDWARD O. MURRAY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Oklahoma city, in the county of Oklahoma and State of Oklahoma, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Non- Refillable Bottles, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in non-refillable bottles, one object of the invention being the provision of a commercially non-refillable bottle, which is simple and inexpensive to manufacture and fill, and which after being once filled and emptied cannot be refilled.
A further object of this invention is the provision of a non-refillable bottle, in which the body at the junction between it and the neck is provided with a valve seat for the reception of a loose ball valve, there being mounted in the outlet of the neck, means to prevent tampering with the ball valve, and also a limiting means and housing for the ball valve.

Referring now, more particularly, to the accompanying drawings in which similar reference numerals designate like and corresponding parts throughout the several views, I provide a bottle body 5 having a neck issuing therefrom and provided adjacent its inner end with an inverted conical chamber 6 the apex of which serves as a valve seat 7, for the reception of the ball valve 8 while the base of the chamber provides a relatively wide shoulder or stop for the valve when the bottle is inverted. The valve may be made of any desired material, and may be hollow or solid, as may be found necessary, but must have suflicient weight to fit snugly but not fixedly upon the seat.
The outlet or outer portion 9 of the neck is of sufficient size to permit of the introduction of the ball valve therethrough, the bottle being filled with the contents, before the ball valve is inserted in the neck to sit upon its seat.
The guard member or tube 10 is now snugly fitted in the outer portion of the neck outlet, so as to house the ball valve, and as the screen 11 is carried by the inner end of the tube, no tool or implement may be projected therein to tamper with the ball valve.
Likewise, the screen prevents the ball from completely closing the tube. The flange 12 of the tube is cemented to the outer face of the annular exteriorly extending rib on the outer end of the neck, so that it is impossible to remove the same without destroying the bottle.
From the foregoing description taken in connection with the drawings, it is evident that a very simple and inexpensive construction of a non-refillable bottle is produced, the same being so constructed as to permit of the easy filling of the bottle and the sealing thereof.
In the inner face of the base of the inverted conical chamber 6, leading from the outlet are one or more radial grooves 18, which act as a drain at this point.
It will be noted that the chamber 6 may contain liquid, and that the ball valve when seated will retain the liquid therein, the liquid and the valve thus making it impossible for the admission of air to the bottle. It is also apparent that the ball must be a true sphere, and that the seat must be ground to a true fit therewith; and also that all the various parts are preferably composed of glass.
What I claim, as new, is
A non-refillable bottle including a body having a neck issuing therefrom, an annular rib formed exteriorly at the mouth of the neck and having a'fiat outer face, the neck being enlarged adjacent the bottle body to provide an inverted conical chamber the apex of which serves as a valve seat while the base forms a relatively wide annular stop, a ball valve insertible in the chamber and normally resting on the seat and adapted to engage the stop when the bottle is inverted, an imperforate tube snugly fitted in the outer portion of the neck and terminatdisk mounted at the inner end of the tube to ing at the inner end of the outer portion of prevent the bottle valve from completely the neck, an annular flange formed exclosing the tube so as to consequently permit teriorly on the outer end of the tube and of liquid passing through the tube.
