Description

UNITED STATE PATENT CEEIGE.
GEORGE W. TINSLEY AND EBENEZER W. STORER, OF MINNEAPOLIS, MINN.
IMPROVEMENT IN MOLDS FOR FINGER-RINGS.
Specilcation forming part of Letters Patent No. 113,169, dated August 15, 1?:71.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that we, GEORGE WV. TINsLEY and EBENEZER W. STOEER, of Minneapolis, in the county of Hennepin and State of Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvenient in Molds for Finger-Rings; and we do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying' drawing and to the letters of reference marked thereon which forni a part of this specification.
The nature of our invention consists in the construction and arrangement of a inold for casting ringer-rings, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth. 1
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which our invention appertains to make and use the saine, we will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring tothe annexed drawing, in which- Figurel is a longitudinal vertical section of the entire mold. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the lower half ofthe ilask or inold. Fig. 3 is a bottoni view of the upper half, and Fig. 4 is an end view of the core.
A A represent the halves of a metal ask or mold, having each a central circular hole, a or a. In the lower half A are two upwardly-projectin g pins, b b, which rit into corresponding holes b b inthe upper half Af. Around the upper edge of the central hole a in the lower half A is a recess, d, and around the lower edge ofthe hole a in the upper half A is a similar recess, d', the two when put together forming a circular cavity for a ring. From these recesses in each of the halves A A lead a semitubular groove, c and c', to the edge ot' the t] ask or inold, the outer ends of said grooves being enlarged so as to form a funnel-shaped opening, f, into which the metal is poured. In the central openin g a a is inserted a tubular core, B, 1n ade of sheet metal or other suitable 1n aterial, the edges of which overlap each other without being fastened together. This core is thus lnade yielding' so as to allow for the shrinking ofthe metal.
Having th us fully described our invention, what we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The lvic-lding core B, made of metal or otherV suitable material, in combination with a flask or mold, A A', for Enger-rings, all constructed and arranged substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth.
In testimony that we claim the foregoing as our own we affix our signatures in presence ot'two witnesses.
G. W. TINSLEY. E. l/V. STORER. Vitnesses:
