JOHN A. KYSOR, OF LEON, NEW YORK.
IMPROVEMENT IN FENCES.
To all whom fit may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN A. KYsoR, of LEon, in the county of Oattaraugus and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Portable Felice; andI do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanyingdrawing forming part of this specification, in which.-
Figure l is a side view of a portion of my improved fence. Fig. 2is a top view of the same. Fig. 3 is a vertical cross-section of the same taken through the line .r x, Fig. 1.
Similarletters ofreference indicate corresponding parts.
My invention has for its object to furnish an improved portable fence which shall be simple in construction, cheap in manufacture, substantial and reliable in use7 and which may be easily and quickly taken down7 moved to another place, and again put up; and it consists in the arrangement of the legs or braces and hooks with the ends of the panels, as hereinafter more fully described.
A are the panels, which are formed by attaching horizontal bars e1 to cross-bars c2, as shown in Fig. 1. Vhen the panels are long they may be stiifened and strengthened by attaching inclined cross-bars a3 to the middle parts ofthe said horizontal bars el. At one end of each panel A the cross-bar a2 is attached to the horizontal bars c1 at their ends. At the other end of the Y panels the cross-bar a2 is secured to the horizonattached to the ends of the horizontalbars al is secured the upper end ofthe inclined bar or brace B, the lower end of which rests upon the ground and supports the fence. To the lower part of the brace or leg B is attached the outer end of the hook C, which has a notch formed in thelower edge of its inner end to hook upon the upper edge of the lower horizontal bar c1. To the outer side of the upper part of the cross-bar a2, which is attached to the ends of the horizontal bars al, is attached the upper part of the inclined bar or brace D, the upper end of which projects, and is notched upon its upper edge to receive and lit upon the. lower edge of the end of the upper horizontal bar c1 ofthe adjacent panel, as shown in Fig. 2. The lower part of the brace-bar or leg D project-s upon the opposite side of the fence from the brace or leg B, and to it, near its lower end, is connected the outer end of the hook E, upon the lower edge of the inner end of which is formed a notch to lit upon the upper edge ofthe end of the lower horizontal bar el Vof the adjacent panel. The adjacent ends of the panels thus overlap each` other and are held in place at their top by the inclined braces B D, and their bottoms by the hooks O D. The braces B D also serve as legs to support the panels away lfrom the ground. Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The inclined braces or legs B D and hooks O E, constructed and arranged in connection with the panels A, substantially as herein shown and described, and for thepurposes set forth.
