ICE CREAM CONE BAG.
APPLICATION FILED AUG-3. I915.

ICE-CREAM-CONE BAG.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented @0113. 26, 1%15.
Application filed August 3, 1915. Serial No. 43,378.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, CARL W'. VVHALEN, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Millinocket, in the county of Penobscot and State of Maine, have invented anew and Improved Ice'Cream-Cone Bag, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
This invention relates to paper --receptacles and has particular reference to paper bags or similar temporary receptacles.
Among the objects of the invention is to construct a paper bag or a similar collapsible receptacle so as to adapt it for supporting'within the middle portion thereof one or more ice cream cones whereby the contents of'the bag may be'conveyed in a safe and sanitary manner from the store or place of sale to the street or some other distant point, reliably protected from dust, dirt, or the effect of warm weather.
More definitely stated, the invention comprises a collapsible receptacle having se cured or formed. therein a shelf or supportsubstantially midway between the top and bot-tom of the receptacle, such support being formed with one or more holes or seats to support as many ice cream cones.
lVith the foregoing and other objects in view, the invention consists in the arrangement and combination of parts hereinafter described and claimed, and while the invention is not restricted to the exact details of construction disclosed herein, still for the purpose of illustrating a practical embodiment thereof reference is had to the accompanying drawings, in which like reference characters designate the same parts in the several views, and in which Figure 1 is a vertical sectional view on the line 1-1 of Fig. 2; Fig. 2 is a vertical transverse section on the line 22 of Fig. 1; and Fig. 3 is a plan view of the same.
Referring more particularly to the drawings, the numerallO indicates a bag orsimilar receptacle which, for the sake of brief explanation, may be regarded as being made of paper and made to represent a well known form of collapsible bag for dispensing loosecommodities, and including, a bottom 11, sides 12, and vertical ends 13. The ends may be slitted as indicated at 13 to facilitate the placing of the cones within the same or removing them therefrom.
Within the bag and at any desired place above the bottom 11 is provided a support or shelf 14: having a reinforcing flange 15 extending around the same: and through whlch the shelf is secured to the inner Wall of the bag. This shelf is shown formed with a plurality of circular seats 16 for as many ice cream cones C. The shelf, therefore, serves to receive and support the cones free from the bottom of the bag and. substantially spaced from one another and from the sides and ends of the bag. The mouth of the bag may be folded over or otherwise closed to protect the contents of the bag from currents of warm air or dust, and the bag and its-contents may be carried by the mouth by grasping around the middle portion of the same without subjecting the ice cream to damage due to dust or heat.
I claim: I I
1. The herein described paper receptacle having a horizontal shelf rigidly secured to the inner walls thereof intermediate its top and bottom and parallel to the bottom, said shelf having a seat formed therein to support an ice cream cone.
2. The herein described ice cream cone bag, the same being constructed of collapsible material and having a horizontal shelf secured therein substantially midway between the bottom and the mouth of the bag said shelf having a flange surrounding its perimeter and secured permanently to the inner wall of the bag, said shelf being provided with one or more holes to receive as many ice cream cones, substantially as setinner walls of the bag. at approximately the vertical center thereof, the said diaphragm having one or more holes to recelve a corresponding number of ice cream cones.
