DISPLAY. RACK OR CABINET.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Apr. 6, 1915..
Application filed May 16, 1913. I Serial No. 768,149.
To all whom it may concern:
' Be it known that I, OLIVER T. RoMsos, a citizen of the United States, residing at Sarles, in the county of Cavalier and State.
An object of the invention is to provide.
a rack or cabinet especially adapted to be used in stores or other places where it 'is desirable to display goods while on sale. WVith this object in view, the rack or cabinet comprises a casing having a sliding door section, the said casing and door section being provided with suitable glass-panels in order that the contents of the casing may be seen. A vertically disposed shaft is located in the center of the casing and arms are arranged to rotate about the said shaft. These arms carry between them racks or holders upon which the goods are mounted. The said racks or holders are pivotally mounted upon the arms and pins depend from the lower ends of the outermost racks or holders. A guide is located upon the bottom of the casing and is located in the path of movement of the said pins and is adapted to encounter the pins whereby the holders are moved to closed positions and held in closed positions when they are turned in the rack awayfrom the opening which is normally closed by the said movable section.
In the accompanying -drawingF1gure 1 is a perspective view of the rack. 'Fig. 2 is a vertical longitudinal sectional view of the same. Fig. 3 is a horizontal sectional view of the same. Fig. 4 is a similar view show ing some of the parts in open position. Figs. 5, 6 and 7 are perspective views of different forirns of holders which may be used in the rac "The rack or cabinet comprises a base 1 and atop piece2 which are connected together by a side 3. The side 3 is cylindrical and its ends are spaced providing an opening for. a'sliding door section 4:. The side 3 and door section 4 are provided with glass panels 5. The parts just above mentioned constitute the casing of the cabinet.
A vertically disposed shaft 6 is located at the centers of the base 1 and top 2 and two sets of arms 7 are journaled for rotation upon the shaft 6 in the vicinity of the inner surfaces of the base 1 and top 2. The members of the sets of arms 7 arearranged in cruciform relation. An arcuate guide strip 8 is mounted upon the upper surface of the base 1 and is located below the lowermost set of arms 7. The ends of this strip are spaced from each other at the opening which is adapted to be closed by the door section 4. Bars 9 are pivoted between the upper and lower arms 7 and carry supports 10 between which* 'the pieces of goods to be exhibited may be arranged or upon which the articles to be sold may be mounted. These supports may be of any design or configuration and especially adapted for the particular character of goods that they are intended to sustain or'exhibit. The lowermost supports 10 carried at the outermost bars 9 of each set of bars are provided with depending pins 11 which are adapted to encounter the guide 8 when the arms 7 are rotated so that the outermost supports 10 move to closed positions and they in turn will swing the innermost supports to closed positions as the said supports are moved away from the opening which is closed by the door section 4. When any particular set of supports 10 are in front of the said opening they may be freely swung so that the goods carried by the said supports may be inspected or removed therefrom.
The ends of the lowermost arms 7 project sufficiently beyond-the outermost bars 9 to be used as handles for rotating the said arms and the parts carried thereby. Therefore it will be seen that a simple combined rack and display cabinet is provided and the parts may be easily and quickly moved in order that access to the goods may be had.
Furthermore, when the casing is closed, its
contents are protected and at the same time,
may be viewed from the exterior.
Having described the invention whatis claimed is:
. A cabinet comprising a casing having an meanoe as the shaft rotates, the outermost article holders being adapted to swing through the opening when the pin is between the ends of the strip and the edges of the opening.
In testimony whereof ll afix my signature 15 in presence of two witnesses.
