To all whom it may concern; v

Be it known that I,'A1\mimw L. Wins, a citizen of'the United States of America, and resident of Monroe, Monroe county, Michigan, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Filing Devices for Talking-Machine Records, of which the followin is a specification.

lVly invention relates to filingdevices in general, but more particularly to those for filing the disk records of talking machines, or other like articles.

Generally stated, the object of my invention is to provide a novel and highly efficient filing device of that kind in which removable guide cards are employed for separating and locating the disks or other contents of the filing device.

Special objects are to provide 'an improved construction and arrangement whereby the guide cards must be flexed for the insertion and removal thereofy to'pro vide an improved construction and arrangement whereby the disksv are readily inserted and removedyand whereby the same are .easilylocated; to. provide afiling device of novel and improved'construction, which can be" conveniently Yhandled; and to provide certain details and features of construction tending toincreasethe general etficiency and serviceability of a filingdevice of this particular character.

To these and other useful ends, myinvention consists in matters hereinafter set forth and'claimed. i

In the accompanying drawings,I*igure 1 is a perspective of the container of a filing device embodying the principles of my in-Y vention, showingoneguide card in place. Fig. 2 is a vertical longitudinal section of the said filingdevice. Fig. 3 is a vertical section on line 33 in Fig. 2. Figs. 4, 5, 6, and 7 show the four slightly difierent forms of guide card employed in said filing device. Fig.8 is a perspective of the index card employed in said filing device. Fig. 9 is a front elevation of said filing device, showing the same open and the index card hung in place.

Each card has a central depression or notch in its 'a sort of valley, extending along the top or the pack of cards. The cards are arranged 'found neces'sary. What I claim as my invention is:

1. A disk filing device comprising a container,=.a' plurality of guide cards therein,

provided with index marks, and means for removably holding said cards in place, requiring a flexing ofthe cards for the. insertion and removal thereof, each card being notched to expose the disks, and said cards having index portions disposed in parallel rows at opposite sides of said notches.

2. A disk filing devic comprising a conprovided with index marks, and means for removably holding said cards in place, requiring a flexing of the cards for the insertion and removal thereof, said means being fixed on a vertical wall of the container, .en-

gaging the ends of the cards, adapted to disengage the cards by the flexing thereof, each card being notched to expose the disks, and said cards having index portions disposed in parallel rows at opposite sides of said notches.

5. filing device comprising a container, a plurality. of guide cards therein, provided withindex marks, and means for removably holding said cards in place, requiring a flexing of the cards for the insertion and re- .moval thereof, said cardshaving their up .per edges provided with tabs for said marks, the tabs on two successive cards being disposed out of line with each other atone side of the center of the cards, and the tabs of the next two successive cards being disposed out of line with each other at the other side of said center, whereby a depression is formed between two rows of tabs on one 1 side and two similar rows on the other side,

which depression, exposes to View the articles filed between said cards.

6. A filing device comprising a set of guide cards, and a container therefor, said cards their upper edges provided i b fo g a d m ks, t e a s QIlJ successive cards being disposed out of line with each other at one side of the center of the cards, and the tabsfof the next two successive cards being disposed out of line with guide cards, and a container therefor, each card having its upperedge provided with a tabfor the index mark, and with acentral notch, whereby all tabs are disposed laterally ofthe central row of notches.

A fihng devlce comprising a set of guide cards, and a container therefor, said container havingfixed front and rear and end Walls, a bottom wall, and covers swingingly connected withthe sidewalls, the end walls extending above the side Walls, and each cover comprising flexibly. connectedtop and. side portions, the side portions extending. upward in continuation of the side walls, when the covers are closed, and the top portions resting one upon the other.

11. A filing device comprising a set of guide cards, and a container therefor, .said container having fixed front and rear end walls, side Walls, a bottom wall, and covers swingingly connected with the side walls, the end walls extendingabove the side walls, and each cover comprising flexiblyconnected top and side portions,the sideportions extending-upward in continuation of the side walls, when the covers are closed, and
