What I claim as my invention is:
1. A trunk, comprising an upper and a lower rectangular reinforcing frame formed of lengths of mately triangulai in cross section and having mitered corners, the rabbets being formed in the right angled portions and the corner edges and forming panel recesses, the outer mitered corner portions of the rabbeted portions forming post recesses, corner posts spacing the frames apart and ha ring their end portions extending into the post recesses and m'erlapping the initered corners, said posts also being formed of lengths of rabbeted material approximately triangular in cross section, the rabbeted portions being formed in the right angled portions and the corner edges, the rabbeted portions of the posts and the rectangular frames forming outer side and end panel recesses, and panels inserted in all of said recesses and fastened to the frames and to the corner posts.
2. A trunk, comprising an upper and a lower rectangular reinforcing frame formed of lengths of rabbeted material approximatel y triangular in cross section and having mitered corners, the rabbets being formed in the right angled portions and the corner edges, parts of the outer mitered corner portions of the rabbeted portions of each corner being cut away in a line extending at right angles to the line of the miter joint to form post recesses, corner posts spacing the frames apart and ha ving their end portions extending into the post recesses and overlapping the mitered corners, said posts also being formed of lengths of rabbeted mate rial approximately triangular in cross sec-- tion, the rabbeted portions being formed in the right angled portions and the corner edges, the rabbeted portions of the posts and the rectangular frames forming outer panel recesses, and panels inserted in all of said recesses and fastened to the frames and to the corner posts.
A trunk, comprising an upper and a lower rectangular reinforcing frame formed of lengths of rabbeted material approximatel y triangular in cross section and having mitered corners, the rabbets being formed in the right angled portions and the corner edges, parts of the outer mitered corner portions of the rabbeted portions of each corner being cut away in a line extending at right angles to the line of the miter joint to form post recesses, corner posts spacing the frames apart and having their end portions extending into the post recesses and over the mitered unrabbeted portions of the joints and having their inner faces bearing against the angularly cut rabbeted ends of the corner portions of the frames, means for securing the rectangular frames to the posts, said posts also being formed of lengths of rabbeted material approximately triangular in cross section, the rabbeted portions being formed in the right angled portions and the corner edges and said rabbeted portions registering with and being flush with the rabbeted portions of the rectangular frames to form outer panel recesses, and panels inserted in all of said panel recesses and fastened to the frames and to the corner posts.
4. A reinforcing frame corner construction for a trunk, comprising a pair of rabbeted frame members approximately triangular in cross section, the rabbets being formed on two faces of the member in the right angled portions and the corner edges, said members being muered and joins d togetlier to form a right angled corner, parts of the outer rabbeted nziteret'l corner portions of the members on one being cut away in a line extending at right ang to the line of the joint to form a postspace, and a square ended rabbeted oost exteudin into said space and abutting against both members and having a portien of its on rabbeted face bearing against the angularly cut rahbeted portmns of the members, said post beingapproxiniately triangular in cross mtttlOIl with the rabbeted portions formed in the angled portions and the corner edges, the rahbeted portions forming outer panel recesses.
In testimony whereof, I aflix my signature, in presence of two witnesses.
