ADJUSTABLE CARD SUPPORT.
APPLICATION FILED D3019, 1912.
Patnted Aug. 26, 1913.
w alzroms, or amen BAY, WISCONSIN.
ADJUSTABLE man-sorrow.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it knownthatI, ANDREW T. JoNEs, a citizen of the United States,,residing at Green Bay, in the county of Brown and State of Wisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Adjustable Card-Supports; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to improvements in picture or card easels or display devices.
The object of the invention is to provide a simple device of this character adjustable in all directions to fit cards or pictures of difierent sizes and shapes and so" constructed that a single fastening element will secure all of the parts of the device including the brace or support inadjusted position.
With this and other objects in-view, the invention consists of certain novel features of construction, and the combination and arran ement of parts as will be more fully descri ed and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings: Figure 1 represents a 'erspective view of this improved card holder in operative position taken from the front and with a'card shown in dotted lines supported thereby; Fig. 2 is a central vertical section thereof; Fig. 3 is a view similar to Fig. l taken from the rear of the device with a card in dotted lines shown supported thereby; Fig. 4 is a longitudinal section taken on the line 4-4 of Fig. 2.
The device as shown comprises arms I and 2 angularly adjustable with respect to each other and connected at their point of intersection by a thumb nut and clampin bolt 3. These arms 1 and 2 are compose respectively of two-strips as 4 and 5, 6 and 7 havmg their inner ends overlapped and provided with registering for a ortion of their extent longitudinally exten in slots as 4 and 5, 6- and 7 through whic the clamping' bolt 3 passes and binds the sections in ad uSted position. The sections composing the arms are adjustable angularly relative Specification of Letters Patent. Application'flled December '19, 1912. i Serial No. 737,718.

to each other to adapt them to fit cards of different shapes such as octagon, circular and other shapes.
The free ends of the respective arm sections are bent inwardly at acute angles to form card engaging hooks or clips as 8 adapted to engage the edges of the card to be supported as shown clearly in Figs. 1 and 3, and when said sections are adjusted to fit the card to which the device is to be applied, said card is securely clamped between the opposed hooks of the respective arms.
A brace support or standard 9 is adjustably connected with the clamping arms being-composed of an obtuse angle strip of suitable rigid material having a longitudinal slot 10 in the arm 11 thereof through which the clamping bolt 3 also extends when the parts are assembled in operative position and clamps said brace 9 'to the card engaging arms, the other arm 12 of said brace extending outward in position to rest on a supporting surface at a point spaced from 'the picture or card.
It will be obvious that when the arts are in operative position the slots 0 the arm sections and of the brace register for a portion of their extent with each other for the passage therethrough of the single clamping) bolt whereby the arms and support or race are secured in operative adusted position by a single element and by one operation.
While I have described my invention with more or less minuteness as regards details and as being embodied in certain precise forms, I do not desire to be limited thereto unduly any more than is pointed out in the On the contrary, I contemplate all proper changes in form, construction and immaterial elements and substitution of equivalents as circumstances may suggest or render expedient.
I claim as my invention:
A card display device comprising arms adjustable relatively to each other and each composed of strips overlapping at their inner ends anal providedwith partially registering longitudinal slots, the slots in one arm registering partially with thosein the other when inoperative position, an angular support having a longituclinal slot designed to register partially with the slots in said,
arms, a clamping element extending through the registering portions of the slots for securing said arms and support in adjusted ornaae position, the free ends of said arms being to bent to form card engaging clips.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set n1 hand in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
