In order, therefore, to employ the invention, the book being, closed, vthe back cover is first opened, displaying the general index. and the. margin B, ofthe index page, unfolded and extended outwardly in position. The book is now opened to the' pages,

inclusive, of the number of indicators G, and

the topic on the margin B, of the index, and- `the outer portions of the leaves of the. book, yand back cover C, which isv show n flexible,

are bent or doubled backwardly toward the innei' portion of the leaves and back C, ex-

posing the indicators uponfthe various pages to the topic indicated upon the margin B',

' of the index, and the topics throughout. the `book correlated vor registering with those upon the margin of the index are readily found.v
