To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, JOHN G. BJORKMAN, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of Chicago, county of Cook, and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Game Apparatus, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to improvements in game apparatus and has for its object the provision of an improved game apparatus adapted to the mechanical playing of different forms of dice games.

The invention consists in the combination and arrangements of parts hereinafter described and claimed.

The invention will be best understood by reference to the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification and in which- Figure 1 is a top plan view of the game apparatus with the cover thereof removed, Fig. 2 is a section on line :r-m of Fig. 1, and Fig. 3 is a section on line y-y of Fig. 2.

The preferred form of construction as illustrated in the drawings comprises a rectangular body 1 having a rearwardly and upwardly inclined partition 2 extending from the front of said box to a line near the rear end thereof so as to leave a space between the rear end of said partition and the rear wall of said body. Partition 2 is provided with a series of longitudinal guide grooves 3 and compartments 4 are arranged at the front of said body above said partition and in alinement with said grooves. In each of the compartments A is arranged a plunger 5 normally held in rearward position by means of a compression spring 6 and carrying at its forward end a handle knob 7 projecting from the front of body 1 as shown. Balls 8 are provided for each of the compartments A and partitions 9 are arranged between the forward portion of grooves 3 to facilitate the insertion of the balls 8 therein. A perforated operating bar 10 loosely engages each of the knobs 7 and is provided with a handle loop 11 by means of which said bar may be manipulated to cause simultaneous operation of all of the plungers 5. By this arrangement it will be observed that balls 8 placed in grooves 3 in front of plungers 5 may be propelled upwardly in said grooves by manipulation of said plungers, and that each of said plungers may be operated independently of the others or simultaneously therewith as desired.

Arranged in the rear portion of body 1 above and slightly to the rear of the rear end of partition 2 is a shaft 12 upon which are mounted a series of hexagonal die wheels 13 positioned on said shaft by collars 141 so as to bring each of said wheels in alinement with one of the grooves 3. The sides 15 of die wheels 13 are marked in representation of the six faces of an ordinary die, as indicated, and radiating blades 16 are secured to each of said wheels at the intersections of the sides thereof as shown, the said blades be ing arranged to be struck by a ball propelled rearwardly in the corresponding groove 3. An angular spring 17 is secured to the rear wall of body 1 in position to engage the blades on each of the wheels 13 to serve as a means for stopping and positioning said wheels with their sides in alinement with each other. By this arrangement it will be observed that upon rearwardpropulsion of the balls in groove 3 one of the blades 16 of the corresponding die wheel will be struck by said ball and the corresponding die wheel caused to rotate or spin at a high speed, and said wheels will be caused to stop with their faces in alinement with each other.

The top surface 18 of the bottom of body 1 is inclined forwardly and downwardly so as to cause balls falling through the space at the end of partition 2 to roll forwardly on said bottom and pass into a receptacle 19 arranged at the front of the body for this purpose, and from which said balls may be readily removed for further use.

A cover 20 is arranged over the rear portion of body 1, being hinged to the rear wall thereof by hinges 21. 7 At its forward end, cover 20 is provided with an operating handle or knob 22 at its rearward end with a transverse slot covered by a glass sight plate 23 which is held in position by means of a frame 245 secured to said cover as indicated. At one side frame 24 is provided with a slot 25 adapted to receive a slide 26 which may be inserted therethrough to cover any desired number of die wheels 13 and thus exclude the same from View.

In use the balls 8 are inserted in grooves 3 in front of plungers 5 and said plungers manipulated either singly or simultaneously to cause rearward propulsion of said balls.

This causes spinning of wheels 13 as explained above and the stopping of said wheels with their die faces in alinement with each other. The hand or throw of the player consists of the die faces directly under sight glass 23 and viewable therethrough. Any desired number of diewheels 13 may be provided and, by use of slide 26, any desired game of dice may be played.

While I have illustrated and described the preferred form of construction for carrying my invention into effect this is capable of variations and modifications without departing from the spirit of the invention. I, therefore, do not wish to be limited to the exact details of construction set forth but desire to avail myself of such variations and modifications as come with in the scope of the appended claims.

Having described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. A game comprising a series of rotatable wheels each having the representations of the different faces of a die thereon; radi ating blades on said wheels; ball propelling means arranged in alinement with said wheels; balls adapted to be propelled against said blades by said propelling means; and means for stopping said wheels with their die faces in alinement with each other, substantially as described.

2. A game apparatus comprising a series of rotatable hexagonal wheels each having the representations of the differentfaces of a die thereon; radiating blades arranged at the intersections of the sides of said wheels; ball propelling means arranged in alinement with each of said wheels; balls adapted to be propelled against said blades by said propelling means; and means for stopping said wheels with their die faces in alinement with each other, substantially as described.

3. A game apparatus comprising a series of rotatable hexagonal wheels each having the representations of the different faces of a die thereon; radiating blades arranged at the intersections of the sides of said wheels; ball propelling means arranged in alinement with each of said wheels; balls adapted to be propelled against said blades by said propelling means; means for operating said propelling means singly and simultaneously; and means for stopping said wheels with their die faces in alinement with each other, substantially as described.

4. A game apparatus comprising a body; a rearwardly and upwardly inclined partition in said body terminating a short distance from the rear end of said body and provided with guide grooves in its upper surface; ball propelling means arranged at the forward end of each of said grooves; a shaft mounted in said body beyond and above the rear end of said partition; wheels rotatable on. said shaft in alinement with the rear ends of said grooves, each of said wheels being hexagonal in form and marked on the sides with representations of the six faces of a die; radiating blades arranged at the intersections of the sides of each of said wheels and adapted to be struck by balls propelled rearwardly in said grooves; an angular positioning spring contacting with the ends of the blades of each wheel; a forwardly and downwardly inclined bottom for said body; and a ball receptacle arranged at the front of said body to receive balls rolling forwardly from said bottom, substantially as described.

5. A game apparatus comprising a body; a rearwardly and upwardly inclined partition in said body terminating a short distance from the rear end of said body and provided with guide grooves in its upper surface; ball propelling means arranged at the forward end of each of said grooves; a shaft mounted in said body beyond and above the rear end of said partition; wheels rotatable on said shaft in alinement with the rear ends of said grooves, each of said wheels being hexagonal in form and marked on the sides with representations of the six faces of a die; radiating blades arranged at the intersections of the sides of each of said wheels and adapted to be struck by balls propelled rearwardly in said grooves; an angular positioning spring contacting with the ends of the blades of each wheel; a forwardly and downwardly inclined bottom for said body; means for operating said propelling means singly and simultaneously; and a ball receptacle arranged at the front of said body to receive balls rolling forwardly from said bottom, substantially as described.
