Abstract

A high performance water polymer latex synthesized by emulsion polymerization, which comprises at least monovinylidene aromatic monomers, aliphatic conjugated diene monomers, olefin unsaturated carboxylic acid monomers, etc which are polymerized by using thiol and 2-phenylpropylene dimer as the chain transfer agent to form water polymer latex, in which the copolymerized latex is comprised of 100 wt% of monomers which comprise: (a) 15%~85% of monovinylidene aromatic monomers; (b) 20%~70% of aliphatic conjugated diene monomers; (c) 0.5%~15% of acid and salt of ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid monomers and/or ethylenically unsaturated sulfonic acid monomers; (d) 0%~10% of ethylenically unsaturated amide monomers; (e) 0%~30% of ethylenically unsaturated alkyl ester monomers; (f) 0%~20% of ethylenic nitrile monomers; in which the chain transfer agent used in the latex is a mixture of alkyl-thiol containing 12 carbons and 2-phenylpropylene dimer, and when the latex is comprised of 100 wt% of latex the amount of transfer agent used is 0.05%~10% relative to the total amount of the monomers used, in which the amount of alkyl-thiol used is 0.1%~5% relative to 100 wt% of monomers, and the 2-phenylpropylene dimer used is 0.05%~5% relative to 100 wt% of monomers.
