Description

Display device

The present invention relates to a display device, and more particularly to a thin display device.

With the rapid advancement of display device manufacturing technology, the display device can be applied to notebook computers, personal digital assistants, digital cameras, video cameras, mobile phones, and the like in addition to large-sized displays such as televisions and computer monitors. Smaller portable electronic products such as smart phones and tablets. For portable electronic products, consumers often require that the product be light and thin in size to facilitate carry-on. Therefore, the display device can have a slimmer design to meet the needs of consumers.

With the trend of thinning various types of display devices, the design of the conventional display device driving circuit disposed on the side of the display panel causes an increase in the width of the frame of the display device and limits the effective display area for displaying the information. Or use a flexible cable to bend the display panel to the board. Since the display panel is usually made of glass, the hardness of the glass is much greater than that of the flexible cable, and the edges of the glass usually have sharp corners. The flexible cable is usually connected to the edge of the display panel, so that when the flexible cable is flexed, the flexing position of the flexible cable is usually located at the edge of the display panel, which makes the edge of the glass display panel easy to cut. Flexible cable, which in turn causes short circuit or open circuit of flexible cable.

In view of the above problems, the present invention provides a display device that avoids causing a short circuit of a flexible cable by providing a copper strip region of the flexible cable and an attaching sheet between the exposed copper region and the metal frame.

The present invention provides a display device including a metal frame, a backlight module, a display panel, a driving module, and an attaching sheet. The metal frame has a side wall. The backlight module is disposed in the metal frame and has a light emitting surface. The display panel is disposed on the light emitting surface. The driving module comprises a circuit board and a flexible cable. The circuit board is disposed under the metal frame, and the flexible cable is disposed on the outer side of the side wall. The two ends of the flexible cable are respectively connected to the display panel and the circuit board, and the flexible cable has a copper exposed area corresponding to the side wall. The attached piece is placed between the exposed copper area and the side wall.

According to the display device of the present invention, the flexible cable corresponds to the exposed copper region at the side wall, and the rigidity of the flexible cable is increased by the exposed copper region, so that the flexing position of the flexible cable is located at the edge of the exposed copper region. It is separated from the edge of the display panel, so that the short circuit or open circuit caused by the cutting of the flexible cable by the edge of the display panel can be avoided. In addition, by attaching a patch between the exposed copper area and the side wall of the metal frame, the short circuit caused by direct contact between the exposed copper area and the side wall of the metal frame can be avoided.

The following examples are intended to describe the present invention in further detail, but are not intended to limit the scope of the invention.

1A is a perspective view of a display device 10 in accordance with a first preferred embodiment of the present invention, and FIG. 1B is a cross-sectional view of the display device 10 taken along section 1B-1B of FIG. 1A. The outermost plastic frame portion of the embodiment is omitted in the portion of FIG. 1B. Since the plastic frame portion is known in the prior art and is well understood by those skilled in the art, the following is not described for the plastic frame. Referring to FIG. 1A and FIG. 1B , the display device 10 includes a metal frame 11 , a backlight module 12 , a display panel 13 , a driving module 14 , and an attaching sheet 15 . The display device 10 is, for example, a thin display device. As shown in FIG. 1B, the metal frame 11 has a side wall 111. The backlight module 12 includes a light source 121 and a light guiding component 122. The backlight module 12 is disposed in the metal frame 11 and includes a light source 121 and a light guiding element 122. The light emitted by the light source 121 is incident on the light guiding element 122, and is emitted to the light emitting surface 12a via the light guiding element 122. The display panel 13 is, for example, a liquid crystal display panel. The display panel 13 is disposed on the light-emitting surface 12a to display the content to be displayed by the display panel 13 by the light emitted by the light-emitting surface 12a. The driving module 14 includes a circuit board 141 and a flexible cable 142. The circuit board 141 is disposed under the metal frame 11, and the flexible cable 142 is disposed on the outer side of the side wall 111. The flexible cable 142 is, for example, a flexible printed circuit (FPC). The two ends of the flexible cable 142 are respectively connected to the display panel 13 and the circuit board 141, and the flexible cable 142 has a copper exposed area 142a corresponding to the side wall 111. When the flexible cable 142 is flexed, the exposed copper region 142a faces the side wall 111 of the metal frame 11, and the flexible cable 142 is bent away from the edge of the display panel 13. The attaching sheet 15 is disposed between the exposed copper region 142a and the side wall 111, and can avoid a short circuit between the exposed copper region 142a and the metal frame 11.

Generally, in order to enable the two ends of the flexible cable 142 to be electrically connected to other components, when the flexible cable 142 is processed, the protective layer 142b at both ends of the flexible cable 142 is removed first, and the flexible flexible row is exposed. The conductive steel material at both ends of the wire 142 is plated with an oxidation preventing layer (not shown) for preventing oxidation of the conductive steel material on the surface of the conductive steel material. The conductive steel material and the region composed of the oxidation preventing layer are conductive copper exposed regions 142c. The oxidation resistant layer is typically made of nickel or gold, so that the flexible cable 142 having the conductive exposed copper region 142c will have a greater stiffness than the integral flexible cable 142. The exposed copper region 142a can be formed simultaneously with the conductive exposed copper region 142c, so that the flexible cable 142 having the exposed copper region 142a will also have a greater rigidity than the integral flexible cable 142. The exposed copper area 142a can be connected to the conductive exposed copper area 142c. Therefore, the flexing position of the flexible wiring 142 is away from the edge of the display panel 13, and the flexible wiring 142 can be prevented from being cut by the edge of the display panel 13. Short circuit or open circuit. Since the exposed copper region 142a and the conductive exposed copper region 142c can be formed simultaneously when the flexible wiring 142 is manufactured, there is no additional step of production, and no additional kinds of materials are required.

As shown in FIG. 1B, the side wall 111 is extended and bent to form a carrying portion 112 to carry the display panel 13. The two ends of the attaching piece 15 extend to form a shielding portion 151 and a fixing portion 152. The fixing portion 152 is disposed between the carrying portion 112 and the display panel 13 to fix the display panel 13 to the metal frame 11 . The shielding portion 151 is disposed between the metal frame 11 and the circuit board 141 to shield electrical effects that may occur between the circuit board 141 and the metal frame 11. An occlusion line 153 may be disposed between the shielding portion 151 and the fixing portion 152 to reduce the resilience of the affixing sheet 15 when the affixing sheet 15 is bent and attached to the metal frame 11, thereby facilitating assembly. In the present embodiment, two riding stitches are provided, but the number thereof can be adjusted according to the bending shape of the metal frame 11, and is not limited thereto.

In this embodiment, the display device 10 further includes a reflective element 16 disposed between the carrying portion 112 and the light-emitting surface 12a, and the reflective surface 16a of the reflective member 16 faces the light-emitting surface 12a to prevent the backlight module 12 from being The emitted light leaks light from between the carrying portion 112 and the light exit surface 12a.

11。As shown in FIG. 1B, when the display device 10 of the present embodiment is mounted, the reflective element 16 and the light source 121 and the light guiding element 122 of the backlight module 12 can be mounted in the metal frame 11. Next, the attached sheet 15 can be attached to the surface of the metal frame 11. The above steps can be replaced as needed. In the step of attaching the attaching sheet 15 to the surface of the metal frame 11, the shielding portion 151 of the attaching sheet 15 can be attached to the lower side of the metal frame 11 and then bent along the side wall 111 of the metal frame 11. The sheet 15 is attached to the surface of the side wall 111 of the metal frame 11, and the fixing portion 152 of the attaching sheet 15 is attached to the surface of the carrying portion 112 of the metal frame 11. In addition, the fixing portion 152 of the attaching sheet 15 may be attached to the surface of the bearing portion 112 of the metal frame 11 and then folded along the side wall 111 of the metal frame 11 to the metal frame 11 . The surface of the side wall 111 is attached to the underside of the metal frame 11 by the shielding portion 151 of the attached sheet 15. An alignment mark (not shown) can be formed on the surface of the metal frame 11 to facilitate the alignment of the attached sheet 15. In addition, the occlusion line 153 can be cut in advance between the shielding portion 151 and the fixing portion 152 corresponding to the bent shape of the metal frame 11, so that when the affixing sheet 15 is bent and attached to the metal frame 11, the affixing sheet 15 is lowered. The resilience of the sheet allows the patch sheet 15 to be smoothly attached to the metal frame 11.

10。Next, as shown in FIG. 1B, the display panel 13 can be disposed on the fixing portion 152 such that the carrying portion 112 carries the display panel 13. The flexible cable 142 is bent again to place the circuit board 141 under the metal frame 11, and the flexible cable 142 is disposed on the outer side of the side wall 111. Finally, a tape (not shown) can be coated on the outer side of the display device 10 to fix the entire display device 10.

Further, the width W1 of the patch sheet 15 is at least larger than the width W2 of the flexible wiring 142, and thus greater than the width of the exposed copper region 142a. Referring to FIG. 1C, a perspective view of a display device 10' according to a second preferred embodiment of the present invention. The patch 15' is hollowed out by an opening 15a, which is the interval between the two flexible wires 142 to save the material of the patch 15' of the display device 10'.

212。2 is a cross-sectional view of a display device 20 in accordance with a third preferred embodiment of the present invention. As shown in FIG. 2 , the fixing portion 252 of the attaching sheet 25 further extends with an extending portion 254 extending between the carrying portion 212 of the metal frame 21 and the reflective member 26 to further avoid the backlight module 22 . Light leakage from the light source 221 and the light guiding element 222. Wherein, the fixing portion 252 and the extending portion 254 further have a riding line 253, so that the fixing portion 252 and the extending portion 254 are attached to the bearing portion 212 of the metal frame 21.

20。When the display device 20 of the present embodiment is mounted, the extension portion 254 of the attachment sheet 25 can be attached to the inner surface of the carrier portion 212 of the metal frame 11, and then the attachment patch 25 can be bent and folded via the saddle stitch 253. The fixing portion 252 is attached to the surface of the bearing portion 212 of the metal frame 21, and then is bent along the side wall 211 of the metal frame 21 to the surface of the side wall 211 of the metal frame 21, and then pasted. The shielding portion 251 of the attachment sheet 25 is attached to the lower side of the metal frame 21. Then, as shown in FIG. 2, the reflective element 26, the light source 221 of the backlight module 22, and the light guiding element 222 are combined in the metal frame 21, and the display panel 23 is disposed on the fixing portion 252 so that the carrying portion 212 is carried. The display panel 23 is displayed. The flexible cable 242 is bent again to place the circuit board 241 under the metal frame 21, and the flexible cable 242 is disposed on the outer side of the side wall 111. Finally, a tape (not shown) can be coated on the outer side of the display device 20 to fix the entire display device 20.

In summary, in the display device of the present invention, since the exposed area of the flexible cable increases the rigidity of the flexible cable, the flexing position of the flexible cable is away from the edge of the display panel, and the flexible cable is prevented from being displayed on the display panel. Short circuit or open circuit caused by edge cut. By causing a patch attached between the exposed copper area and the side wall of the metal frame, a short circuit between the exposed copper area and the metal frame can be avoided. Since the conductive exposed copper region is produced for electrical connection when the flexible wiring is manufactured, simultaneously forming the exposed copper region does not increase the manufacturing steps. Since the shielding portion and the fixing portion are connected, when the shielding portion and the fixing portion of the attached sheet are attached, only one positioning is required, and the shielding portion and the fixing portion are not separately positioned, and the step of attaching and positioning can be saved. Working hours.
