Description of the Invention: [Technical Field of the Invention] Video Content of a Program Program Function The present invention relates to an electronic recording apparatus and a method of using the same. [Prior Art] • k has evolved over the past decade to provide consumers with enhanced control over the choice of video content for playback and playback. For example, compared to the use of recording and playback; JV machine (VCR) 'digital recorder (DVR)) makes it easier for consumers to record the video, and allows consumers to play the video valley whenever they want. Even during recording of video content. Because most DVRs use a hard disk to store video in-video, the stored video content is usually "constrained" to the display device connected to the DVR (eg, TV). 'This limits the location where the consumer can play the video content. The device that records the video content onto the removable memory card is commercially available. Once the video content is recorded, the memory card can be moved from the recording device. In addition to and insertion into a portable playback device, such as a computer, a smart phone or a portable media player, this allows the consumer to view the video content whenever and wherever he wants. The present invention is defined by the following claims, and thus the content in this section should not be taken as a limitation on the claims. The embodiment described below provides a video content recording apparatus having an electronic program guide function. In this case, the user can generate the video content from the removable memory device 200 to an intermediate night device (eg, personal computer 84A), and then transmit from the intermediate device. Go to the final playback device (for example, (4) the software on the intermediate device to transmit). t 〃 As can be seen from the illustration in FIG. 2, the video content recording apparatus 1 is now sufficient for the user to be when he wants and wherever he wants (eg on the road, in the commute) Video content can be stored and viewed during the period, at a friend's house, etc. By using the removable memory device 200 as a transmission medium for the intra-view valley, the video content recording device 100 allows the user to be free from the fixed viewing environment at home. Moreover, unlike some existing DVRs, which require the user to transfer video content from the DVR to the personal computer to achieve the portability of the video content, the video content recording device 1 is capable of displaying the video content without requiring a personal computer. Recorded directly onto the removable media device 200. The use of a removable media device 2 to provide video content to a playback device is also faster and less expensive than ordering a high-priced wireless video service for a mobile phone, and avoids whether a wireless connection will exist when the user is roaming. Uncertainty. Moreover, since the solid state memory device (such as a flash memory card) can store video content more reliably and for a longer period of time than the video tape, the video content recording apparatus 100 also provides the ability to store valuable video content in a more durable manner. The advantages of the media. Referring back to the drawings, Figure 3 is a block diagram of some components of a video content recording device 10A of an embodiment. It should be noted that the video content recording device 123468.doc -15-200816182 (10) may include additional or different components as compared to the components shown in FIG. Furthermore, it is presently preferred that the various inputs, outputs and components are carried by the housing (the input or output protruding from the housing is still carried by the housing "). In alternative embodiments, one or more of the various inputs, outputs, and components are dispersed in two or more housings. As shown in Figure 3, in addition to the inputs and outputs shown in Figure! The video content recording device i includes a processor i 8 , an embedded memory 185 (eg, EEPR0_NAND memory), a video encoder, a video decoder 193, and an LED 195. The LED may include: a power LED, To indicate that the device 100 is powered on/off; a removable memory device LED to indicate that a removable memory device is recognized/present and is ready for communication, a transmitting LED that is Blinks when transmitting; and a recording/warning LED that turns on during recording and does not have enough storage space on the removable memory device when requesting recording or when no removable memory device is present Flashing beta in an implementation An lED is used in close proximity to the second input 120 to indicate the presence of the memory device 2 (eg, when the LED is continuously turned on) and to indicate data transfer (eg, when the LED is flashing) Referring now to Figures 1 and 3, in operation, based on a recording request, the processor 180 transmits control information to the video content source via the first output 15 to turn the video content source 300 on and select The video content provided by the video content source 300 is transmitted to the video encoding 190. In this embodiment, the video content is output from the video content source 3 (8) as an analog signal, and the video encoder 19 Converting the analog ratio 123468.doc -16 - 200816182 The signal becomes a digital signal and provides the digital signal to the processor. (The video decoder 193 is used for reverse operation - the conversion is performed by the digital signal provided by the processor. The analog signal is used by the device. The processor 180 processes the digital signal and records the digital signal (preferably in a compressed format) to the movable De-storage memory device 2, because the playback device supports video/audio codec support, file format support, screen resolution/direction, frame rate, bit rate, video processing, card format support, and The folder name/structure may vary, so it is preferable that the video content recording apparatus 100 knows in advance the video content recording parameters 2' in order to generate an appropriate video content broadcast and to make the video intra-valley compatible with the target playback. The device is recorded on the removable memory device 200. As used herein, the term "video content recording parameter" refers to a parameter for recording video content. Examples of video content recording parameters include ( But not limited to) video codec parameters, audio codec parameters, file format parameters, file history parameters, frame rate (eg, several frames per second), video bit rate, audio bit rate, audio bits Metarate changes, video processing parameters, screen resolution, screen orientation, card format, folder structure, and folder name. In this K embodiment, the video content recording parameters (and the values of their parameters) for a plurality of playback devices are stored in a repository in the firmware stored in the embedded memory 185. In operation, the user selects a target playback device (e.g., a mobile phone or a handheld game device) using the remote control device 500 and a graphical user interface displayed on the display device 400. After the user makes a selection, the processor 18 selects the video content recording parameters (and associated values) corresponding to the playback device from the 123468.doc -17-200816182 database stored in the firmware. The remote processor 180 then processes and records the video content into the removable media device 2 based on the values of their parameters. Additional information regarding the recording of video content and the use of mechanisms for updating the recording parameters of the video content can be found in the U.S. Patent Application Serial No. 11/514,651, filed on Sep. 1, 2006. It should be noted that these display screens are by way of example only, and the following claims should not be limited to the functions shown in these display screens. Figure 5 is a display screen of an EPG that allows the user to view the available video content by program type, channel or title. When the user selects according to the program type, the display screens of different program types are listed (please refer to: 6). When the user selects a specific program type, the visual content of the program type is selected. The title is displayed to the user for selection. To help the user find the video content, the EPG can list various video content that matches the input character when the character is input. For example, as shown in FIG. 8, when the user inputs the letter "L, , when, the letter TM 四 (4) is displayed for selection. When the user enters another 3, the list can be changed. As another example, the entire list of available video content can be displayed, and when used When typing or scrolling to a letter, a selection column or cursor can jump to that section of the list. The advantage of displaying the entire list of video content is that it gives the user the opportunity to identify and select video content instead of The program name is spontaneously provided. As described above, the display screens shown in Figures 5 to 8 are merely examples, and other EPG functions can also be utilized. For example, the Ep (J can display the description information of the video content). For example, abstract, cast, year of production, parental control information, etc. Referring to Figure 3, in one embodiment, computer readable code for providing EpG is stored in the embedded The memory 185 is implemented by the processor 180. The computer readable code will be referred to herein as an "EPG application" (or "EPG client"). # EpG application When the program is executed by the processor 180, it provides a user interface on the display device 4 to facilitate the user to select the desired recording. The EpG application presents the EPG poor material to the use #, and Processing and interpreting the user's input (eg, each selection within the view) becomes π卩7 7 for the video content recording device 100 to record the selected video content. As used herein, 123468.doc -20- 200816182 'EPG Data" refers to any information that can be utilized to facilitate the user's selection of the video content to be recorded. EPG data includes (but is not limited to) broadcast date, channel number, channel name, start/end time, and description information of the video content, such as (but not limited to) title, abstract, jewel, director, production year, Program type, parental control information, and length. An EPG profile can be restricted, for example, from a time perspective (e.g., broadcast information available only for a few weeks) or from a size perspective (e.g., one of the largest file sizes that the device (10) can handle). In order to keep the EPG up-to-date, new EpGf materials are supplied to the video content recording farm. The EPG data can be supplied to the A Valley Recording Unit i 可用 in any desired manner. For example, the video content recording device (10) may include a telephone jack and a function of periodically dialing a call to a computer servo to load new EPG data. Alternatively, if the video content recording device 100 is connected (directly or indirectly via a computer) to the network (e.g., network b, '罔路), the computer can be used to download new EPG data. However, in this embodiment, the video content recording device 1 is designed as a separate add-on to the home entertainment system and thus does not require direct connection to the network. A mechanism is provided to provide EPG data to the video content recording device 100 〇 ^ again to the drawing, and Figure 9 is an illustration of an embodiment of the EPG data that can be utilized to provide EPG data to the video content recording device 100. As in Figure 9, an EPG server 900 storing EPG data is in communication with a network 91, which is in communication with the host device 92. As used herein, a group of devices "communicate" with another component through any suitable medium, and the communication 123468.doc -21 - 200816182 can be: one-way or two-way. Furthermore, although in the drawings, the lines are not connected to the components, it should be understood that wired connections are not necessary and wireless connections (eg, RF, IR, etc.) may also be utilized. ). The same is used here, "network, can take any suitable form: eg, telephone network, computer network (eg, internet, internal network, external: network, etc.), Or any combination thereof (e.g., the Internet is connected to a cellular telephone network). The host device 92 is any input that is used to receive the removable memory device 200 and operates in any suitable manner. Mode and EPG servo communication device. The (4) package of the host device is not limited to PC/notebook, handheld game console, mobile phone, smart phone, portable media player H, and f-type computing device. The device may be a wireless device or a wired device. In operation, the user inserts a removable memory device 2 (for example, a memory card or a USB flash drive (, UFD,)) into the device. In the host device (4), or inserted into the device attached to the host device 920, for example, a memory card reader (as described above, it may be a video content recording device _. Next, the user uses the host Device 92〇 to connect To the EpG server 9, for example, to view a website provided by the EPG server 9. (Although not necessary, the website can be supported by the manufacturer of the video content recording device 1). The website (which may be limited to only one page or several pages), the user downloads the coffee data from the EPG server 900 and stores the (ρ(} data on the removable memory device 200. Then, the user slaves the host device - removing the removable memory device_, and inserting the removable memory device 200 into the video content recording device 1 . Next, the EpG data 123468.doc -22- 200816182 is removable The memory device fan is transmitted and stored in the video content recording device (10). (The EPG data can also be processed from the removable memory device' instead of being transmitted/copied to the epg or embedded memory) The video content recording device 1 can record the video content in the same memory device that provides the EPG data or in a different memory device. As another alternative, the EpG data can be Being scattered On the memory card (for example, Lei Junming B + 1 J 4 is the flash memory card), instead of the user downloading the EPG data. It is better to use the video content. The specific file format/auxiliary name recognized by the recording device 100 is used to store the EPG data. In this manner, the user is plugged into the removable memory device to the video content recording device 100. The processor 180 can automatically identify the data file and compare it with the EPG data currently loaded in the EPG application. (Or, the user can manually load the EPG data from the removable memory device 20G to Video content recording device (10)). If no data is currently loaded in the application or the currently loaded data is an older set of data, a display may be displayed on the display device 400. New program listing information. Do you want to update the program listing? " After the user confirms, the new EPG data can be loaded into the embedded memory 185' and the user can utilize the updated information. Since the new EPG data is only maintained for a limited period of time (for example, two to four weeks following), the user will repeat the above process when new EpG data is required. More generally, users have three options: (1) Replace existing EPG resources with information from an EPG data file; (2) 123468.doc -23- 200816182 Add information from an EPG data file to existing And (3) compare existing EPG data with new EPG data and add only new items to existing EPG data. In addition, on the Xth day or within the next day, a message can be displayed to remind the user to load a new EPG data file. Returning again to the drawings, Figure 10 is an illustration of an alternate embodiment. As in the embodiment shown in Fig. 9, the user connects the removable memory device 2 to the host device 920 and uses the host device 92A to connect to the EpG server 900. However, in this embodiment, the website provided by the EpG server provides an electronic program listing, and the user uses the website (rather than the video content recording device 100) to select the program to be recorded. A website with an EPG can be formatted for display on the host device 920 in a user friendly manner, especially when the host device 92 has a smaller screen. For example, host device 920 can be a mobile phone having an internet connection and input for a removable memory card. This allows the user to record from his mobile phone schedule during the action. It should be noted that the EPG can be changed/customized not only according to the smaller screen size, but also can be changed/customized according to different processors (with smaller processing power), operating system or browser. Chemical. The user uses the EPG on the website to select one or more programs that he or she wants to record. After the selection, a schedule recording is downloaded from the EPG feeder, and the scheduled recording is stored in the removable memory card. Moreover, it is possible that the telephone or other network device (e.g., pc) has (4) an application to select a program for recording (as selected on the video content recording device 100 itself). On the phone, Pc, etc. 123468.doc -24- 200816182 This application can generate a scheduled recording file and store the scheduled recording file on the removable memory device. As used herein, a scheduled recording file is a file containing information indicating that the video recording device 100 is to record the selected video content specified in the scheduled recording file. And may include, for example, a date, a channel, and a start/end time of the selected video content, and a description and other information that can be viewed by the user using the video content recording device ,0 0, for example, the program name and Summary. There can be a data file with various scheduled recording settings, or one file for each scheduled field. Preferably, the recording of the scheduled recording is stored by using a special type of broadcast/sub-slot name that can be recognized by the video content recording device (10). When the user inserts the removable memory device 200 into the video content record: the clothing 100, the processor 18 can automatically recognize the scheduled recording slot and record in 4 schedules. (4) The information in the middle and the current schedule are in the information of each recording device (10). (Or, the maker can manually record the device 200 to load the schedule to record the broadcast to the video f ϋ 'igg) ° If there is no recording scheduled or the current schedule, the staff does not - indicates "detection A new recording schedule is detected. You want to add the 22nd rr setting to record the section: one will change according to the t £ loot T in the recording of the schedule, and the recording will be recorded in the recording settings. Setting (10) can also display their changes and a query to the user if they want 123468.doc -25- 200816182 to load/install a new recording schedule message. In another alternative, the scheduled recording slot can be used as A message is sent from the EPG feeder to the host device 92 instead of from which website to record the slot. This is especially convenient if the host device 92 is a mobile phone. For example, it can be in the network. In the 93rd, the (four) transmitter _ the scheduled recording slot is transmitted as a short message service (SMS) message (for example, a multimedia SMS message). After the host device 92 receives the scheduled recording, the user can store The scheduled recording of the broadcast in the removable memory On the device, removing the removable memory w from the host device 92G and inserting it into the video operator may prefer this alternative power factor. The network service provides 04 for each (four) transmission and/or reception. The message is charged. As an alternative, you can use the attachment to send the coffee data file with the sub-mail or (4) the recording settings. The alternatives and examples are used separately. For example, except for the EPG The f4 of the embodiment described above can be downloaded or transmitted to the host device by means of a message or a message. Further, the EPG data can be moved by ten users. Instead of the user downloading the r1° body device, it can be distributed to the device. Then * ΓΓΓ the data to the removable memory card 2 2 'The video content recording device can receive the bedding' without using the data to store Removable 7 memory device. For example, 'video content recording device can be used: 2, the video content recording device communicates... on the road and materials Wumu. 4 deposits and stores receive electronic program table resources. Then 1EPG data IM video content recording device 1 when the source of the content of the video is 3〇0 (for example, when the broadcast # reaches the video channel or the other data frequency is 123468.doc -26 - 200816182) The function of extracting EPG data from the video content source may be included. As another example, the _, the recording profile may be stored on a removable memory device, the recording profile notifying the video content The recording device is related to the video intra-valley recording parameters to be used under the removable memory device. In operation, when the removable memory device is inserted into the video content recording device, the processor can identify the recording f setting slot by using the sub-label name of the recording setting slot, and then use the recording in the recording The video content recording parameter indicated in the video content is recorded on the memory device. In this manner, the user can insert a memory device into his video content recording device or other video content recording device, and The device will know how to record the video intra-valley that is consistent with the user's playback device without any further action by the user. This is particularly advantageous when a single video content recording device is used by multiple users, for example, in a home of a plurality of users having different playback devices. The video content recording device will automatically record the video content for a particular playback device without the user having to manually select a target playback device. More generally, the video content recording device can be configured to: (1) always have the recording profile overwrite the previous setting; (7) never let the recording setting overwrite the previous setting; or (3) ) Let the recording setting slot overwrite the previous setting after the user's confirmation. In the case of using the recording profile, the video content recording device can be configured to return to its previous video content recording parameter 0 123468.doc after the removable memory device is removed from the recording device. 27· 200816182 ~ In the alternative, the video content recording device can have card-to-slot specific recording. Additional information on this alternative can be found in the September 2006 US Patent Application Serial No. 11/540, 121" Video Content Recording Device with Card and Slot Specific Recording", and September 29, 2006 U.S. Patent Application Serial No. 11/541,094 "Using a Method of Recording Device for Video Content with Card and Slot Specific Recording, both of which are assigned to the assignee of the present invention, and The way is incorporated herein. Finally, in the above embodiments, the processor and the dynamic body are used to perform various functions. In recognition of an alternative to such a configuration, the term "circuit" is used as a more general description of one or more components of the material (4). For example, as described above, "electricity" can be used to perform processing of computer readable code stored in a computer readable medium (eg, here stored in a human memory (four) body).
