Abstract

I n an access control system (1), a registration procedure for a visitor (2) is implemented to control access to an access-restricted zone (8) in a building or a site. At the invitation of a host, the visitor sends (2) a digital image, an invitation identification number and a 5 device-specific identifier of the electronic device (6) of the visitor (2) to the access control system (1). The image data and the identifier are assigned to a visitor profile previously created for the visitor (2) by means of the identification number of the invitation. The image data are processed by the access control system to generate a reference template, the reference template being stored in the visitor profile. 10 ( Fig. 4) 15
