Abstract

The present invention relates to a mobile radio network that includes a packet service. The invention also relates to a method for controlling transmission quality over the radio connection downlink. This quality control is effected by receiving mobile terminal measurements. Measurement reports (MR) are sent in uplink at given intervals (IL). According to the method, the interval (IL) is varied in accordance with variations in transmission quality. The invention also relates to a packet control unit (PCU) that includes means for requesting measurement reports at intervals which are varied in accordance with the information contained in received measurement reports.
